I choose to buy the GHD Salon styler about 2 years ago as it was recommended for thick hair and for the time I had them they were an excellent buy. Great quality and perfect results all-round.
As with any GHD's I found I needed to use a thermal protector product to ensure my hair was free from burn and remained healthy.
I found for just over a year the straighteners were of very good quality and very consistent, I was able to rely on them completely.
The major issue I have with these straighteners was after just over a year of using them, whilst straightening my hair I noticed sparks coming from the wire near to my hand. Where the wire entered the GHD's it had split which was causing the sparks - I felt this should not be happening with the price and quality of the product.
All in all I would still recommend GHD as a brand name and have bought a set of the mk4 hair straighteners. No other problems with GHD's. They are perfect.

Advantages: Brilliant fo straightening all hair types even frizzy afro hair. Disadvantages: Can get extremely hot and leave fierce burns if near the skin.
