    I settled an agreement with GMAC Financial Services. It was paid within time, but this did not stop GMAC from taking a further payment. They had not bothered to cancel the payment collection. On complaining they could have not been less interested. It would take 14 days to get it back, they only took complaints via letter. They had no email and they would not phone me back to tell me that they had actually cancelled the payment collection and repaid the money. I had to make a complaint to my Bank to get the money back from them. They charge ... more

    Advantages Advantages lend to poor credit history

    Disadvantages Disadvantages not well known , charge for changing insurance policy

    We got our mortgage with them back in June 2006 after we were refused by a number of banks due to me and my partner having a default on our credit file. Interest rate of 6.0.% fixed for 2 years. Not had a statement from them yet. The only bad point was we changed our house insurance poilcy and GMAC charged us £40 for doing this . Spoke to them a few times on the phone and their manner is well polite and helpful. Any problems you have if they can help they will do there best to assit you in any way.     This is company is American based e.g that’s were it came from.They have the same range of mortgages as a bank or building society. I applied for a mortgage about 4 years ago and my ex husband was in very bad debt and we were not able to get a mortgage any where. Even though we were buying our council house. We split up in 1999 and I applied early 2003 again for a mortgage through one of those companies you see on the telly that said "we will help you buy your council house" so that is what I did.
