No slip shod slap dash sloppy sat nav . . .
Review of Garmin nüvi 250 by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: So simple to use.
Disadvantages: Easy target for thieves.
...
Garmin was one of the GPS devices I looked at when deciding which sat nav to go for. I actually went for the TomTom. As I compared several models I feel I am qualified to write a review on this Sat Nav. Garmin is well known for Satnav, but they also make Mobile phones, Laptops, PDAs, 2 way radios, and even dog tracking systems. They do echo sounders for boats, as well as chartplotters, fishfinders, and even radar sets. They are a "new" company ... ...Garmin call this a personal travel assistant, this is an entry level job, but I tend to think that is just a marketing trick to make you want the next model. The device comes already pre-loaded with maps covering the whole of Europe. It has the usual touch screen and is of course very slim. The database is already loaded with Points Of Interest. You are able to choose 2D or 3D maps th suit yourself, I prefer three dimensional but it is down to personal ...

Take me home, country roads.
Review of TomTom GO 720T by
brereton66
Advantages: Neat design, good screen and comprehensive maps
Disadvantages: I'll have to buy another in a couple of years.
TomTom 720T
SatNav devices remind me a little of mobile phones in the early nineties. They are a little bit pricey, a little bit niche and until recently the preserve of gadget freaks and those who drive for a living.
These days they are a lot more prolific and I can foresee a time when they will be just as ubiquitous as mobile phones and everyone with a car will have one, and no doubt more than one if they have more than one car in the house.
... ...on size and functionality.
TomTom 720T ~
Costing £260 from Amazon, before Christmas 07, this unit comes well recommended in the review magazines and has a lot going for it. It has a large, bright screen set in an attractive metal and plastic case. It uses clear, well presented maps and has a large choice of voices with which to issue directions. This model will also receive traffic updates and offers you the option of incorporating these into your ...

Tom Tom One
Review of TomTom ONE Europe by
spongebob32
Advantages: Clear easy to use menus
Disadvantages: Mapping sometimes inaccurate
I have owned my Tom Tom for nearly two years now, and use it most days for work. The system is really easy to use thanks to a touch screen menu system, using symbols as well as descriptions for the main menu options, and it is really easy to program and set up with your own details. For the most part, the mapping is accurate and gets you to where you want to be, but as with all sat nav's a degree of common sense is required, and you should never ... ...been dissapointed with recently was the performance of the system in Cornwall. No matter how you program it the Tom Tom will always lead you down narrow country lanes rather than the safer A or B roads, and very annoingly it was convinced that we were in the middle of a field when on some parts of the A30, despite updating the maps on a regular basis. I have also dowloaded the speed camera function, and this is a very worthwhile upgrade, but doesnt ...

The drive of your life?!
Review of TomTom GO 920T by
Sarahhhx
Advantages: Text to speech
Disadvantages: Nothing!
The TOMTOM GO 920T is an essential for people who travel both short distances and long distances in the car. I paid £353 for this beauty.
I'm usually very wary, on what Im purchasing if its in the hundreds range as I want a good quality product if im going to splash out.
I feel very safe buying tomtom product however as it has a very good reputation efficient navigation devices. And the GO 920T is no exception. What I love about this perticular ... ...have text-to-speech which means the tomtom can announce street names, as well as sms and traffic messages. Which means you can focus more on driving as the tomtom does everyhting for you.
One of my favourite things on this perticular device is the speech recognition which lets you tell your device where to go, instead of typing it on screen this is a lot better especially when your driving as obviouslly you will get in trouble with the police if ...

It just goes on and on, and whats more, there is more to come by the end of 2007. No other Sat Nav comes anywhere near.
