Advantages: So simple to use.
Disadvantages: Easy target for thieves.

Garmin was one of the GPS devices I looked at when deciding which sat nav to go for. I actually went for the TomTom. As I compared several models I feel I am qualified to write a review on this Sat Nav. Garmin is well known for Satnav, but they also make Mobile phones, Laptops, PDAs, 2 way radios, and even dog tracking systems. They do echo sounders for boats, as well as chartplotters, fishfinders, and even radar sets. They are a "new" company ... ...Garmin call this a personal travel assistant, this is an entry level job, but I tend to think that is just a marketing trick to make you want the next model. The device comes already pre-loaded with maps covering the whole of Europe. It has the usual touch screen and is of course very slim. The database is already loaded with Points Of Interest. You are able to choose 2D or 3D maps th suit yourself, I prefer three dimensional but it is down to personal ...

A nice piece of kit
Review of TomTom GO 520T by

Advantages: Bluetooth, voice recognition
Disadvantages: No case provided with it
I've just bought a Tomtom Go 520 after somehow managing to lose my Garmin somewhere in Manchester (grrrrr!) and up to now I'm fairly pleased with it. I loved my Garmin but was swayed by the 'gadgets' that the 520 has........bluetooth, voice recognition etc. However, there are several downsides that I have found so far. Firstly it doesn't appear to recognise all addresses......my friend lives in a house that is about 10 years old and although it can ... ...when you live in Lincolnshire! Tomtom home isn't brilliant either, it looks very basic and childish considering how huge the company is. Upsides.......the unit looks lovely, like a mini tv and is very simple to set up. You don't get a memory card or case with it although the internal memory isn't a bad size. I've bought a memory card for it and found it very simple to put music on it and get it to play. Review of TomTom GO 920T by
maclinks
Advantages: Intuative, good display, easy to use, Great design and interface
Disadvantages: Price
We where of to the States and Canada, and wanted a sat nav for the 3 weeks fro our 100 mile trek, to hire one with our rental car was going to cost in the region of £150 so we decided to buy one instead, we bought it for just £285 on line from Halfords, and it has been brilliant. All the world maps are preinstalled, we told the machine before we left the uk the destinations we where going to friends and families address and logged them as recent ... ...arrived we would be tired and not really be wanting to try and figure out programmming the device when we where concentrating on driving on the wrong side of the road in Usa Friday night rush hour round Seattle... I don't recommned it. But the tom tom without a glitch 10 seconds after switching on and selecting usa it had located where we where and took us to the door and for that I would have married the machine if it were legal, no arguing over ...
