Garmin xt mobile A-OK highly recommended

Advantages: Cheap compared to standalone, removes the need for seperate sat nav
Disadvantages: No post code only search but this can be resolved with adding a house number of any house

A package of maps worth having

Advantages: Ease of use and price

Having used a Tom Tom Go 700 for a number of years, I decided to update the maps of Western Europe. Tom Tom uses software called Tom Tom Home which is used to download the updated maps. Having connected Tom Tom Go 700 to my PC, via a USB cable, it was a simple matter of clicling on the relevant icon on the Home Software, paying for the maps, and downloading them over the internet. You need tom-toms to find your way

Advantages: Large clear menu for touchscreen. Quick setup to navigate to postcodes. Clear driving instruction.
Disadvantages: Poor POIs, Lack of route preview. Missing villages. No cam preview found.

The only disappointment is that there is no support for post codes in Europe, so it usually means studying Autoroute in advance and setting the destination on the PC. Advantages: Easy to use on a PC
Disadvantages: Needs a GPS receiver

PC Navigator 8 with UK, Ireland and Europe maps. I highly recommend this product. Easy to install and use. Simple user menu's, Find and Navigate, Address, Postcode or Places of Interest, help to find your way to your destinations. Also has Speed camera locations which will need updating from time to time.
