Advantages: Cheap, comfortable, and fast for its age Disadvantages: Aging and moderately difficult to find parts. Not the best handling bike ever
This Kawasaki is now considered cheap transport, but in its day it was Kawasaki's top sports bike, mixing it in reviews and road tests with lofty models like the Honda VFR750 and Suzuki GSXR750. Reviews of the time suggested the Kawasaki was outdated as soon as it was introduced, leading to something of a sales flop, a short model life, and some real low priced bargains.
The GPX 750 was introduced to the UK market as the replacement for the GPZ900R, a bike that ultimately outlasted it by a good ten years.
So what was wrong with it? And how does it shape up now?
The answer to the first question is not much; it was just two years late to market. The other ...

Advantages: Handling, performance, looks, reliability Disadvantages: running costs and insurance
Own one a couple of years back and not long after I sold it I went to see if I could buy it back. I had the GPX MIVEC V6 with manual gearbox, what a car turned heads wherever I went. Handling and comfort is outstanding and the fact you could fit two small people in the rear was another advantage, boot size wasn't to bad until I fitted rear strut braces. All in all a very good car just a bit expensive to run. ...

Advantages: Great value for money, stylish, DAB radio, great sound quality Disadvantages: Slight buzzing noise when not in use

However, after a week or two the CD player wouldn't play CDs without skipping anymore. I returned it to the shop and got a replacement, but had the same problem. So eventually I decided to give up with Phillips and went with an alternative Sony model - the Sony CMT-GPXDAB!
That was over a year ago now and I'm very happy with my purchase. Since I got all the money back on my Phillips model I decided to add £30 to my savings and go for a slightly posher model. The Sony CMT-GPX9 fitted all the criteria for a Hi-Fi for me ...
