Also with external hard drives from seagate you only get a 1yr warranty, instead of 5yrs for internal drives like this one. The formatted usable size is 298gb, not 320gb, it is very quiet I do not notice it at all. It is lightning fast thanks to its 16mb cache which helps make windows and programs load up quicker. The downside with the low price I paid was that as it was OEM (original equipment manufacturer) hard drive, this means that it is for computer manufactures and the hard drive is the only item incuded, so there is no instruction manual, or the sata cable to connect your hard drive to the motherboard. ...This stylish hard drive from Western Digital is one of the simplest electronic things I have bought in years. Just plug it into your USB port, and it does every thing for you, no installing drives off CD's, which on some things I have experienced, can be very time consuming. It is also surprisingly quiet and very stylish and with 320 Gb of space theres enough room for thousands of your pictures and music files. This also comes with a Fire Wire cable so transfer of your files is almost instantaneous. The cost is a little higher compared to some of its competitiors, I got mine for £99 from Amazon, but is well worthy of the price tag. I can promise, you wont be disappointed.... Read review

...I brought this hard drive as it was on special offer at the time. I use it when at university to store music, video and pictures to allow my laptop to have enough free space for all my university work. The hard drive is very easy to use, the fist time I plugged it in my laptop recognised a new hardware device and it was ready to use straight away (Windows XP Home Edition). Sometimes when I want to run something off the hard drive it take 2-3 seconds to open the file and does not open as fast as it would if it was saved to the laptops hard drive. When listening to music for a long time the case does tend to get warm. It is a very stylish device and I could no longer imagine my laptop without it.... Read review
