The Gabriel Knight series of adventure games are always a sure bet for a decent gaming experience. The latest was dubbed the most anticipated game for ages when it arrived on the scene which is probably untrue, but this series certainly does have an army of fans out there. Rightly so too, because they are al ldamn fine games.
To fill you in briefly on the background, Gabriel was once a pulp fiction writer but suddenly found out that his lineage ... ...to protect people from evil and umm other complicated stuff. Anyway, his most recent assignment involves travelling to the side of an exiled prince to protect his baby son who has `thin blood`...so yeah, vampires are involved and all that business. I`ll leave the plot as vague as possible because any fan of adventure games knows that 90% of the fun and the draw of such games is the plot and storyline of the games, otherwise we would all rush out ...

Advantages: 3D technology, 'will they, won't they' get it on storyline, and excellent puzzles make this the best game I've played so far this year. Disadvantages: The dialogue could do with more sharpening
Gabriel Knight 3 is the latest installment in the ever-improving Gabriel Knight series, and despite some changes this game still carries the feel of the first two. The Specs:
Let's get the boring stuff out of the way...The game doesn't use FMV such as the second adventure, but a 3D world. This, obviously, means that playing the game would be best (not required though) played with a 3D card. The 3D graphics look pretty good, although not quite as ... ...round the next corner without Gabriel or Grace having to risk their neck. (yeah, yeah, cheater alert) The mouse moves around around a little arrow, that lights up when it is on something that can be manipulated. When you click, a number of various verb images appear. You can sniff objects, touch objects, comment on them, pick them up, practically anything. That is what is good about the interface, it is simple yet powerful. The only other real problem ...

Advantages: Super Characters + Storyline + Music Disadvantages: Graphics can go fuzzy
...comes along to France where Gabriel ends up.
The game starts with a short movie of 2 Kidnappers taking Prince James of Albanys son. Where Gabriel follows them on a train and ends up near a small town called Rennes-Le-Chateau in France. The game has time segments which conclude after your charcter has done significant things. Gabriel is a private detactive from New Orleans in America. Once he has his wits about him the next morning he checks out ... ...is called Madelain Buthane who Gabriel takes a liking to, as does Mosely.
There are many different places to visit throughout the game, one of my favourites being Chateau de Serres and L'Homme Mort, which means Dead Man. At Serres, it's a local vineyard where a rather odd character called Montreaux lives.
After the first day, Gabriel has already stolen Moselys identity to take his Harley, sneaked up on Madelain and Wilks' sites and questioned the ...

Gabriel Blight Review ofGabriel Knight 3 (PC)by
arcadionseyes
Advantages: good characters, brilliant storyline, good manual and music Disadvantages: short. graphical glitches. can be frustrating at times.
Another word for 'blight' according to my word thesaurus is 'withering'. Hmmmm. How...one might say, appropriate. You probably haven't read my review of the first game(go on....do it now, you know you wan't to), but the first game was exceptionally brilliant. Yes. It was. This game was...hmmmm...quite good. Do you see? No, I'm being unfair. The series has not withered. The second game, I felt, was terrible. So it's kind of come back to life. But ... ...you would say that it had withered some what. It began very promising. The manual was very helpful(unlike so many) and you even got a graphic comic/novel thingy for the prologue, which I felt was a nice touch. Some might see this as laziness on Sierra's part, like they couldn't be arsed to give us a prologue full of fancy fmv scenes at the start, which probably would have been as nice a touch. But I digress. The game is what you're interested in ...

Advantages: good graphic, nice story Disadvantages: the system takes some time to get used to it
...you take the part of Gabriel Knight, Southern gentleman who plays the role of the Schattenjager or Shadow Hunter and his assistant, Grace Nakimura, provides both gender balance and a different perspective on the problems and puzzles you must solve to complete the story.
The presentation of the game is excellent and the 3-D engine looks great and works smoothly. However, the interface is slightly unusual. Rather than walking your character around ... ...place with the camera, using Gabriel or Grace only when you have to speak or look at something.
Being a floating eyeball takes some getting used to and detracts from the feeling of being deep within a game. If you can ignore this little eccentricity, Gabriel 3 has plenty to draw you in and keep you hooked, just like a good book. Garbiel knight is ideal for everyone that love game like monkey island or similar, you have to focus your attention on ...
