Oh who doesn't love a hot chocolate every now and then? Maybe there's a few people who don't but I certainly love them! But I am very fussy with my hot chocolates, they must be perfect. The tub is rather large standing about 9 inches tall and as wide as a jam jar top. It is brown and a sort of orange colour and has the recognisable Galaxy symbol written on it made to look like chocolate. Its made from flexible plastic so unfortunately I cannot reuse it as a glass unlike the Nutella spread jars! The tub was easy to open, the lid twists off very easily and inside is the usual freshness seal that comes off with ease unlike most products we have tried.
The tub looks very nice and stands out extremely well on super market shelves so it should be extremely easy to find.

How to prepare the beverage ***********************
Now it is very simple to make hot chocolate. Add 4 heaped teaspoonful's of Galaxy hot chocolate into a mug and add water and stir... That's it! Easy. I am not a fan of a hot chocolate without fresh milk in it. I always add half water and half heated milk. There is dry milk in this product but it is never the same!
The powder mixed pretty quickly, there were a few lumps while stirring but they were easily broken up with a Bash with a spoon! The drink was a nice chocolate dark colour and it did not feel to thick when I made it with just the water and no milk. Galaxy describe this drink as being thick and creamy, I did not find this. Its just slightly thicker than water and when I say slightly I mean slightly! But when I added the milk it definitely improved the texture. Galaxy does not say to add milk but it seems to taste okay. The smell is also a lot nicer when milk is added.
How does this hot chocolate taste? ****************************
Well, I'm not too sure if I am an absolute fan of this hot chocolate, it doesn't taste bad! But its not as nice as some other brands I have tried, such as the Aero hot chocolate. The galaxy hot chocolate is very dark in colour and that means its very strong tasting of chocolate. More like the cocoa powder than a drink when made using water, with the milk I use it does improve the taste slightly. The chocolate sometimes comes out quite frothy which is nice.
Considering this is made by Galaxy I would have thought it would taste like Galaxy milk chocolate. It tastes almost exactly the same as the Tesco Value hot chocolate that costs just 23p! Nothing like Galaxy at all which I was quite disappointed with.
How to store **********
As with most powdered products it should be stored in a cool and dry place, also out of direct sunlight so a cupboard should be just fine. We keep our on the window sill in the kitchen, it's still fine!
Healthy or not? ************
I would say most probably not? I really am not sure. In the 400g pot, each cup of hot chocolate drink made with water contains 3.2g of Fat!!! Whoa! I'm not adding milk to this stuff any more, that is pretty fattening. It also has 115 calories per cup which is okay I suppose, I was expecting less and wished I hadd read this Galaxy tub before this review! I have drank 30 cups over 4 days! Ouch.
The drink is made using water so it is very hydrating, that's a good thing. It also contains 484kJ of energy per cup.
Allergy advice ***********
This product is not suitable for any milk and soya free diets. There is no meat in the powder so it should be suitable for most vegetarians however I cannot find anything on the tub so please do not count on that!

Overall this product is okay for the price I paid. It is usually £2.69 in Tesco, I would definitely consider buying the Tesco Value first as it tastes almost identical to me. But if the Galaxy is on offer I would say give it a try. The taste is quite average and definitely does not taste like Galaxy chocolate. It is also quite runny but with a bit of milk added the consistency is improved.

...Yes, I'm sure after my Galaxy review you have realised that, especially since I had eaten the bar before I thought to tell you what was on the individual pieces of chocolate. I am almost sure it is a G but that isn't the basis of this review.
My favourite chocolate is Galaxy, although I rather enjoy hot chocolate drinks when it gets to this time of year. I have tried many and the best that I have found is a fair-trade product tat I am currently ... ...I think.
Galaxy Packaging

...one I came across the Galaxy Hot chocolate in the home bargains store and so thought it seemed pretty good as I love Galaxy chocolate anyway and hoped it might taste really nice!
The tub:
The tub is quite narrow but tall as the one I have has an extra 33% more in it. The tub has the usual Galaxy logo on it with the packaging in brown the same as the chocolate bars are. The tub is 266g in size and has all the ingredient information on the label ... ...and maybe even smell of Galaxy chocolate but, was disappointed to find that the powder actually didn't smell at all of the well known chocolate - however once it had water and milk added to it there was then the definite hint of Galaxy smell!
Making it:
The tub recommends 4 heaped teaspoons to make the perfect drink and to be honest I would say this is right as then it gives it that creamy and very chocolaty taste. If you do prefer not as strong ...

...love chocolate Dairy milk or Galaxy it doesn't really matter so when I saw a hot chocolate drink made by Galaxy I just had to buy it. I think it was around 30p for one sachet. This one came from Tesco but is available at other shops too.
It comes in a 28g packet and to me it looks slightly orange but I think it is supposed to be a chocolate colour. It has Galaxy written in brown writing across the middle and instant hot chocolate drink just under ... ...there is 7.5g of real galaxy chocolate in this sachet, allergy advice, which tells you it contains milk and Soya, nutrition information. Per serving this hot chocolate drink has 115 kcal, 3.4g of fat and 19.2g of carbohydrates, not good if you are watching you waist.
To make the drink you simply pour the contents of the packet into a mug and add boiling water, making sure you stir it well or you will be left with lumps at the bottom of your mug, ...

To be honest, I’m not sure why I bought this. I’ve never liked HotChocolate in any shape or form, ever since I was young. Today though, I decided that I wanted some! So wandering down the aisles at dinnertime in Safeway, I picked up a duo packet of GalaxyInstantHotChocolatedrink.
The powder comes in a packet that looks identical to the wrapper from a Galaxychocolate bar. It is the same concoction of browns. There is a picture of a steaming cup of hotchocolate on the front to tempt you. The real that that drew me to this type of hotchocolate specifically was the fact it said it was made from real Galaxychocolate – and I just love Galaxy with a passion! On the back of the packet there is the nutritional values and ingredients listed.
The drink contains:
2.0g of Protein
19.2g of Carbohydrates
3.4g ...

*Packaging*
The thing that first stands out to me is the shape and size of the tub that it is in. It looks like a feminine drink to me because it has curves (yes that’s right…curves!). However just because it looks feminine doesn’t mean it has to be a woman’s drink as I think the way it is coloured it can get away with being a mans drink too.
The word galaxy looks a lot like it is written using melted chocolate. It looks bubbly and can I get away with saying…drinkable? It is surrounded by dreamy swirls coloured in various shades of brown ...

*THE PRODUCT*
Galaxychocolate is made by the Mars Company, and along with this particular flavour, Maltesers Instant and Flyte hotchocolatedrinks are also available. My sample came with a voucher for 30p off a 325g jar of GalaxyInstant, presumably available in all good supermarkets near you. The accompanying picture also shows sachets of all three varieties, so these would be your best bet to try the drinks.
