Although it looks so innocent now, believe me, before you know it.... you can have squandered your money away within a few purchases.
Any figurers that you buy will be hideously expensive often £8-10 for a single metal model. And any sort of vehicles, can be anywhere from £30-45. Before you know it, you'll soon need a mortgage to pay your debts off.
Being aimed at small children who want to start a hobby and be creative...It is incredibly harsh on the parents. A single 'army' of 1000 /1500 points (A standard army size for most games) could cost upwards of £200, then on top of this, you must buy the 'primer' paint which they sell at £8 a spray can, which last only a few sprays, then after this you must then paint the models... this can be a long and bothersome job. Thus most army's are never actually painted, because it can take several hours to do it, and most small children don't have the patients.
Don't get me wrong, GW (Games Workshop) is a brilliant place if you have the money. It gets small children involved in group activities and helps get children active and away from the dreaded PC screen. The models do look rather impressive once they are all painted up and laid out nicely on a gaming table.
When I started out in the hobby, in the LOTR section before moving onto 40k... prices were not exactly cheap, but a darn sight better than they are now. The other day I added up my models and the price at which I brought them. For both my 40k army's by buying them what must have been only a year earlier I had saved nearly £60 then if I had brought them today.
As for my copious amount of LOTR I brought, I never got round to pricing it up, I was too scared to remember what money I had invested into it.
The hobby was very fun and entertaining for a few years. GW held various events and other special days to make it fun and exciting every time I went. However as I grew older it got less and less fun. I found the number of good opponents was dwindling... and it then turned into just long sessions of waiting.
In conclusion, I would say that. Yes. GW is a good hobby, but only if your prepared to pay for it. There is no market for selling your stuffs on. So don't expect to come from this lightly. A keen hobbies t in GW could in his gaming life spend near £1000 in the store on various items. This may not seem alot, but for something that is only played probably once a week, for a couple of years... a tad on the expensive side.
GW aims at the 11 ish to the 14's ... after 14 many people drop out of the hobby, therefore If you are around this age, and have no quarrels with spending alot. Hell, go for it. It is mighty fun while your addicted. Just make sure you like it alot before you commit to spending.
GW does offer introduction games and other such activities for people wishing to look into becoming a hobbies t.
Advantages: Very sociable game and hobby, excellent quality products. Disadvantages: Quite expensive prices.
...there to play a big game with all my miniatures. A lot of the time, the staff comment on how well my miniatures are painted, or how much they like my newest piece of terrain.
---QUALITY AND PRICE OF PRODUCTS---
Games Workshop sell many products. Apart from the actual miniatures you buy, you also need paint, glue, tools, paintbrushes and more to be able to play a game of LotR/Warhammer/whatever.
A lot of people complain that the prices at GW are ... ...off with the hobby. When you start, you need to buy undercoat spray, paints to start off with, glue (a couple of different types), and a few other tools and stuff.
Including your first miniatures, this could easily cost up to £80.
However, once you have started off, you will only need to spend about £5 or £10 a month, on extra paints and new paintbrushes and stuff. For me, I hardly need to buy anything now, because the quality of everything GW ...

...of the Rings Strategy Battle Game aimed to attract younger people to Games Workshop with a fun, yet simple and effective, battle system. It has attracted worldwide popularity through the Lord of the Rings films and remains a highly followed area of Games Workshop. Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game contains around 17 main areas:

If an area contains lots of plastic models, an army may cost around £30 or £40 to build. If there are lots of metal models involved, an army may cost around £50 to £60 to build. Both are very affordable over a period of time, which is how most buy such models.

To finally conclude, Games Workshop is a very trustworthy and friendly ...

Advantages: seel good items Disadvantages: really expeinsive
I’m very fond of Games-Workshop because it sells what I collect, Warhammer. There shops are based all over the UK and other countries so there a big company. You also get products like Warhammer: Warhammer 40,000, LOTR Warhammer and paints, brushes, scenery and books. So basically it sells ‘Army/LOTR Collectables.’ All those items which I have listed are little miniatures of many different kinds of species armies. You buy, paint, display then battle. ... ...and battle with a paint table and battlefield provided. The good thing about these shops is that children and ADULTS can enjoy something which doesn’t include computers and TV’s. The layout is really easy has it has sections of LOTR, Warhammer 40k, Warhammer and paints, scenery ect. and The queues in store are minimal as the service is quick so you normally don’t need to wait for 30mins.
They normally have everything in-stock as I was able to get ...

They seemed to be doing most everything right, then started to produce supplements for their own game Warhammer, first there came special edition miniatures complete with their own sets of statistics (used during the game) and the paints to paint it with. With the ever expanding list of games came an ever expanding and evermore expensive list of supplements for Warhammer, Warhammer 40K (a Sci-Fi version of the original) and Blood Bowl (an American football combat game, which is worryingly entertaining). Games Workshop began to run games in the shops, anyone was welcome to come and play, ...
