==★ The Home Page ★==

At first glance at the GAME.co.uk I immediately feel that the websites home page isn't as good and as professional looking as other sites such as play.com. It has a pretty simple layout with all console navigation bars laid out down the left hand side, these consoles are as followed:

• DS
• Game Boy Advance
• GameCube
• PC Games
• PlayStation 2
• PlayStation 3
• PSP
• Wii
• Xbox
• Xbox 360

It also contains 3 other links which are Cool Stuff, Downloads and Gadgets. After these links there are several more that are less specific than individual consoles these links are Accessories, Coming Soon, New Releases, Competitions, Deals & Offers, Multibuys, Click & Collect, GAME Content, GAME Exclusive, Become An Affiliate.

Become An Affiliate is a nice touch to the website and will allow you to advertise the GAME website on your own and give you the chance to earn commission on those sales that are made through your site.

Competitions are another great addition to the site as it brings more people to the site as you have to be a member to enter and you could win things like their current competition, a trip to Las Vegas, and this helps them advertise the game a little more as well.

I also think that the Click & Collect feature is an added bonus as you don't have to wait for deliveries; you can purchase from the website and pick up at a local store. This can make it easier for some people and is an added helpful way to make your online shopping a lot less complicated.

◘ Console Pages ◘

These navigation bars make the site an easy place to use and clicking on something like Xbox 360 will bring up the page for the Xbox 360, as you would expect, and this then gives a list of genres that you can then select from depending on which type of game you like. This various from racing, puzzle, role playing to things like action, fighting and flight. They also provide strategy guides. The genre section makes searching for games a lot easier, as a fan of action games I am able to just select action and look at all of the other action games that I never new were available on the Xbox 360.

The page will also give you another list and this will contain things like accessories; things like faceplates and controllers. They offer console bundles, games coming soon in which you can then preorder and select the games through an A-Z process, these are just some of the things offered on the consoles personal page.

These added links are very helpful, the A-Z listing helps if you just want to see what games are for sale, I think this would be a great idea for the game section on play.com, as sometimes I just want to have a look what is available because u have no idea what game I want.

They also have a preowned section as like the stores, and this is a great bonus if you know the game you want and find it in this part of the website. Just like the store the price is a little bit cheaper for those who don't really mind if it's new or not.

♦ GAME News ♦

For me this is one of the best features of the site as all game related issues are shown here and you can really keep up to date with the gaming community. These news facts are usually things like game sales, release dates, features on an upcoming game, content downloads coming soon and other things like that.

They have 10 new headlines per page and give a brief description similar to the Ciao website review page, where you can read a small part then click it for more detail. One of the current new headlines titled 'Rumored price cut for Xbox 360' mentions how it could be cut to the same price as the Wii, and also gives a mention to the hotly anticipated of 'Gears of War 2'

Anticipated games include Gears of War 2, due for release in November, following on from its predecessor Gears of War which led the player through a world dominated by the Locust Horde.

With headlines like this gamers can keep an eye out for new games and will certainly get excited about the news of 'Gears of War 2.' I recommend this to anyone who's interested in games but doesn't want to use a website to buy them, it's still a good source of information for all your gaming knowledge.

◄ Top Links ►

This isn't my favorite links, this is how it sounds and it the links that are laid out across the top of the site. These links are:

• Store Finder
• Reward Card
• Wish List
• Your Basket
• Your Account
• Help
• Login

All of these are very helpful to anyone who wants to use the site. The store finder is extremely helpful as if you want to go out to one of the GAME stores you can easily type in your postcode and the nearest ones will be located and shown on Google Maps which will then show you the way. Also this is helpful I believe they should add a section where you can type in what game you want and they will say if it is in stock in your selected store, this will take out a lot of in store hassle.

Another great bonus of GAME is the famous reward card, this is the first place I can personally remember giving out reward cards, and even though most places now do it it's still a good feature. Before the card used to give you £5 and that was it, but now it will give you points as well. These points are gained though purchases, both online and in-store. This is what the site says about the points:

'Earn points worth 2.5% of your order value to use towards your next purchase in-store or online!'

This is a helpful feature if you are a constant buyer of games and console accessories and the points can really rack up and leave you with a large discount off your next purchase.

The Wish List is a nice little feature, this allows you to create your dream shopping spree on the site that you can look at and say 'imagine if I could buy all that' unfortunately if you're like you regularly can't afford what you have on there. The best part about this list is that you can send it to friends so they know what to buy you when Christmas comes around and hopefully you might get lucky, also you can assign a rank order to your list so you know what you want most and it gives you a target to save up to.

Your basket shows you what you currently want to buy and you have to make an account to purchase that you can also monitor along the top navigation bars.

Help is also only a click away, although I doubt you'll need it since this is an easy site to use, but it's there just incase. The help link is mainly for questions about the site or if you have any problems regarding deliveries or payment. This works in the same way that most other sites help section works and play.com has a very similar set-up.

All purchases are free delivery which is an added bonus because you don't want to pay more online than in the stores and if they added postage and package to the price most new games would be over the usual £40.

Most of the games are the same price as in the store with the occasional game at £45 instead of £40 which I expect from GAME as I've been using it for a long time.

I would recommend this website to any gamer, and if your not going to buy anything, use it for the news, honestly it's great! But if you're a keen gamer like myself I would highly recommend that you use this site or play.com as both are around the same price, but this is easier for games as you can go and pick them up.

From my experiences with the website I found the site was a very quick with delivery and comes well packaged, just like play.com. I did have problems once before, where they sent the wrong game, but I contacted the site and they told me to send it back and paid for the postage and packaging then sent me the correct game. So this site is a really good and helpful site!

Hope you enjoyed reading!
Hope you now want to use GAME.co.uk

Thanks, Ciao!
