Advantages: Good quality, good style, good prices Disadvantages: short and wide
Gap is probably my favourite clothes shop. You always know, if you decide to wander into one of the many nearby Gap shops, that there will be cheap, good quality, nice looking assistants...woops, make that clothes, for you to buy. Seriously, I don't think I have ever paid full price for anything at Gap - why would I? Half the shop is a sale rail. I'm not complaining though.
The Clothes
Gap sells pretty much everything. ... ...thing I have noticed about Gap tops is that they seem to be short and wide - though I believe this is because Americans are short and fat. I dunno.
Availability
Gap is everywhere. There are two shops in York city centre, one at an out-of-town centre and another being built. Fortunately, due to Gap massive range, I havent seen anyone wearing my clothes. This is strange indeed.

The Clothes
Gap sells pretty much everything. Tops, Jackets, trousers, jeans, male and female, little accessories, the legendary khakis.....pretty much everything but shoes. I tend to either buy t-shirts or trousers from Gap, and they are always good quality and wash well. The only thing I have noticed about Gap tops is that they seem to be short and wide - though I believe this is because Americans are short and fat. I dunno.

Price
Cheap. it not that cheap at RRP, but practically everything is on sale. Therefore, it is cheap. T-shirts for under £10, trousers for £20-30, tops for around £20. Prett good huh? ANd when this translates to quality and style, and compared to other high street shops, you always get a good deal.
But, is it cool?
Take it from me, and i'm a pretty cool guy, Gap is damn good. Casual, feel nice, comfy - but then again, depends on style. if you are a recluse, a townie, or a suit, don't bother.
Advantages: excellent quality, you know what you're getting Disadvantages: A little bland and American
...you can see colour and GAP go to together like black & white. Maybe this is the image they trying to present to the general public, at GAP you know what you is getting, nothing flashy, snazzy or in bright colours, but straight forward, good quality, and mostly bland (bland in a good sense!).
I have some lovely clothes from GAP which I'm sure will last me for a couple of years at least. I'm often not sure whether the clothes are for women or men, ... ...so what can you expect.
GAP is tying to use their American formula in the UK, and I think it’s worked. The only thing I don't like is their use of the word 'Fall' instead of Autumn, in their billboard advertising, which is a far lovelier word.
I suppose my main criteria for shopping at chain stores is as follows:
a) Are the goods of a suitable quality i.e. washable, wearable, durable?
b) Do they have sales assistants on commission if yes- ...

Advantages: excellent stores Disadvantages: to pricey
I think Gap shops are brilliant for quality and if you save up it will be well worth the extra money you may have had to pay. I went to the Trafford Centre and they had a really good Gap store and although, the items are quite expensive, they looked very good on display, tempting enough to go in and have a look. I bought a blue hooded Gap top which was for £40, it was nicely fitted and was nice and warm. The range was so impressive, even though I ... ...I bought my younger cousin Gap cap, which was really nice, and although he wasn’t there I think he will like it.
The after sales service was really good and I was informed that as long as I kept my receipt the good could be returned. There was a lot for me to chose from so that was good. How can you not want to buy from this store?
Gap shops are trendy and will always appeal to you, I always save up and have to buy something from the shops, ...

Advantages: Helpful staff, good choice, timeless items of clothing Disadvantages: not enough stores, sometimes pricey but the items do last
I worked in a GAP store for 2 years and i still shop there regulary - so do my mother, father and grandfather.
The clothing is avaliable in a wide variety of sizes, colours, styles and cuts which is a basic requirement for most customers which many high street shops seem to miss.
The staff are always helpful and approachable and the products are clearly labled. From my experiences working there I know that the majority of the employees enjoy there ... ...shoppers overeall experience.
GAP also have a very good returns policy, there is no time limit and if you dont have a reciept you can exchange or get a credit note.
Also if you buy and Item of clothing and it goes in the sale the next day you con go into the shop and get the difference in price back!!! - very handy to know! ...

Advantages: Apparently the quality is high? Disadvantages: Overpriced hard to iron ad campaign
...first time I noticed a Gap shop was in Watford in 1993 and I didn't think much to the clothes then, but did like the adverts on TV.
I'm not a big shopper, I know what I want and go looking for it, I don't buy on impulse but regularly go out lunchtimes with a mate who seems to have plenty of spare cash for clothes.
My reason for writing this op is that I actually have an opinion on this chain. I don't care about other shops. I am happy to buy something ... ...favour.
My feelings for Gap however run quite deep: I do not like it. The clothes are too expensive; the trousers are scruffy; the shirts look like an absolute nightmare to iron; the t-shirts and hoodies are overpriced.
However my biggest problem is that most of the clothing makes you a walking advertisement. You couldn't write "GAP" any bigger on the clothes. Is this why they make the prices high? High prices = Status symbol so if people know ...

Advantages: Colour range Disadvantages: they seem to stock more in large sizes than small sizes
I buy more clothes in Gap than in any other clothes shop. They make confortable, easy to wear clothes in a wide range of colours, sizes and designs.
Buying trousers can be confusing because they are in American sizes. This means you need to take 4 away from your clothes size, although i take away 6 because otherwise i find that i end up with trousers that are to big for me!
The customer service in all the stores i have been in has been excellent, i have never had to queue for very long and usually i can find the item of clothes i want in the colour and size i want.
It has to be said that the ease of shopping in Gap doesn't come cheap, but they always have some bargins in store. For example I got a lovely pair of flared jeans last year for £7.50 reduced from £40 and just before christmas i got a lovely soft grey fleece for £9 ...

Advantages: Quality clothes which endure wash after wash Disadvantages: Clothes may seem expensive to some
Up until recently l had not really bothered about Gap - l simply used the store in Belfast as a short cut into the CastleCourt shopping centre. One-day l decided ld stop and take a look.
The Belfast Store is extremely busy and crams a lot into a small space - women’s wear, men’s wear and junior sizes. A separate store exists for babies and toddlers. (I must emphasis that this is only the case in the Belfast Store - other stores have everything under one roof)
Clothes may seem expensive but l do not mind paying that little bit extra when it comes to quality. I find Gap clothes to have that edge over others. They wash well, keep their shape and endure well!
The style (for women anyway!) is mostly casual - with their hooded sweatshirts, jeans, tee shirts and baseball caps. I bought a pair of Gap jeans on Friday ...

Gap. For many people this name conjures up excellently choreographed adverts. We used to love these when we were at school. In fact mornings in the common room would often start off with “Did you see the new Gap ad last night?”. My dancing teacher loved them and many of our jazz numbers had an obvious Gap influence.
My first contact with the shop itself was when in Leicester - at this point there weren’t any northern branches near me. After visiting my sister at uni we went shopping and came across a little branch, in the Shires I think. Since these were the days when the height of fashion was being seen with a Gap bag, I had to buy something. And with those prices it had to be something small and cheap. I settled on this minute perfume. It was truly tiny – so much so in fact that the sales assistant asked if ...
