Up until recently l had not really bothered about Gap - l simply used the store in Belfast as a short cut into the CastleCourt shopping centre. One-day l decided ld stop and take a look.
The Belfast Store is extremely busy and crams a lot into a small space - women’s wear, men’s wear and junior sizes. A separate store exists for babies and toddlers. (I must emphasis that this is only the case in the Belfast Store - other stores have everything under one roof)
Clothes may seem expensive but l do not mind paying that little bit extra when it comes to quality. I find Gap clothes to have that edge over others. They wash well, keep their shape and endure well!
The style (for women anyway!) is mostly casual - with their hooded sweatshirts, jeans, tee shirts and baseball caps. I bought a pair of Gap jeans on Friday and l must say that l have been asked if they are diesel jeans. They are really soft and comfortable.
Gap sizing tends to be on the large size, so you are advised to ensure you try clothes on before leaving the shop.
Gap has regular sales and l would say that this store is one of the very few (Next being another) who really know the true meaning of the word sale. Items can be reduced by at least 50% if not more. There are always sale rails in the shop and l would always advise a wee poke through because bargains can be found on these rails!
Staff in Gap are really customer focused, and l have heard (although not experienced this) that should you buy an item and it is reduced within the month of purchase, if you return to the shop with your receipt, those lovely Gap people will refund the difference. I have found the staff helpful ensuring you have enough help but not in that condescending overpowering scary way! They really know the clothes too and at the till recently l was given really good tips about clothes ld bought.
The piece de resistance for me must be Baby Gap. I love to buy bits and pieces for my niece. She loves her hooded Gap sweater and she looks really dapper in her yellow Gap raincoat!
In summary, this is a great shop, with knowledgeable and helpful staff. If you are passing a store and see sale - go in your sure to come out with a bargain or two or three....
