I don't know anything of the history of Gap, but suspect they are an American company. The first time I noticed a Gap shop was in Watford in 1993 and I didn't think much to the clothes then, but did like the adverts on TV.
I'm not a big shopper, I know what I want and go looking for it, I don't buy on impulse but regularly go out lunchtimes with a mate who seems to have plenty of spare cash for clothes.
My reason for writing this op is that I actually have an opinion on this chain. I don't care about other shops. I am happy to buy something if I like it and the price is right, but don't feel I am doing them a favour.
My feelings for Gap however run quite deep: I do not like it. The clothes are too expensive; the trousers are scruffy; the shirts look like an absolute nightmare to iron; the t-shirts and hoodies are overpriced.
However my biggest problem is that most of the clothing makes you a walking advertisement. You couldn't write "GAP" any bigger on the clothes. Is this why they make the prices high? High prices = Status symbol so if people know your clothes come from Gap it makes you trendy, thus Gap make it easy for you to show people that there's where you shop. Oh well!
I know this hardly represents a campaign, but it's got it off my chest and if anybody who knows me sees me with the three letters emblzoned across my chest please shoot me.

working for Gap, I will try and explain some of your grievences, and try to explain why they are unjust.
1. Trousers scruffy:
We have a wide range of trousers, all of them offering a style for different people. We have anything from chinos to worm denim. Scruffy is the fashion.
2. History of GAP
Started in 1969 as a jeans shop stocking levi's on a campus in the USA. Became popular for the unique and easy way that jeans were displayed.
3. Hoodies with GAp logo on them
It is fasionable for some, GAP wouldn't make them if people didn't want them. Not everything has the GAP name sprawled across. In fact only some peak caps and the fleeces have the logo on.
I hope this answers some of the points.

Gap is advertised as a no nonsense clothing store. So you would have thought that the price would be quite cheap, however it isn’t and I could probably get the same clothes in a charity store!

I got an absolutely rockin' pair of bright orange trousers there for a tenner - guess no one else would buy them, so they had to reduce the price to get rid of them! Original price was £40 tho, don't think I would have brought them for that much! O
