The venue is owned by the Mean Fiddler group who own many venues across London. There are two parts of the Garage in Highbury, upstairs and downstairs.
Upstairs: Usually used as a club or for small gigs. The stairs leading to it are some of the most hazardous I've ever attempted when drunk. Thin concrete stairs at 2am are not friendly. The sound system sounded fairly awful, but it's more suited to a club with a lowish volume than the Industrial gig I witnessed. The size and shape of the room tends to distort the sound at high levels. The dressing room/chill out room is little more than a square, green room with two tables. There is no disable access to this level.Downstairs: A middle-sized venue, that's well laid out with the stage visible from all locations. However, security can be a little over-zealous, hauling people out for stage-diving. The sound system downstairs is excellent. Very clear, if a touch loud.
Gig admission downstairs tends to be £8-10, whilst club admission upstairs is around £5. Drinks are reasonably priced compared to some venues, with most falling into the £2-3 range. And they serve Snakebite.
