A great addition to the Dr Hessayon range
Advantages: Information for the novice gardener Disadvantages: none
...Horticulture course at college.
The book is easy to read and the layout is easy to get around. The book covers an explanation about what bulbs are and what the different type of bulbs do.
The book has a section on different varieties of bulbs which are placed in alphabetic order, which does really help. The book covers everything from site and soils, gives great plant details and there propagation. Also some fantastic and clear photo evidence is ... ...The book also covers plant and planting care, How to increase your stock and also where to plat your bulb to get the best out of them, for example shady or sunny areas in your garden.
Basically this book will give the information so you will have plants all year round growing in your garden
A great addition to the Dr Hessayon range I already have. ...

How to Be the Perfect Housewfe-A Book For the Modern Girl
Advantages: Very inspirational, clear and easy to understand Disadvantages: Shame it's only in paperback, needs photos not just drawings
...with absolutely no knowledge of how to keep house which is how I was. If you feel overwhelmed and you don't know where to even begin, then this book is for you. It is also for you if you have the house fairly under control, but just need some new ideas to inspire you. The book is divided into sections, which you can go through at your own pace. This enables you to take baby steps, and sort out your house around your own schedule. Some people rubbish ...

The Tree and Shrub expert well worth buying
Advantages: fairly priced easy format Disadvantages: limited advice
This particular version in the Doc Hessayon series is a good book for anyone who needs basic and general advice about common everyday trees and shrubs.
It is not what I'd call a specialist in depth guide but it certainly has enough in it to get new gardeners started and the book provides useful pointers.
Different varieties and types of shrubs are mentioned including tips on soil likes and dislikes and suggestions and helpful hints abound.
Old ... ...in typical Hessayon style and the books are good value for the price they are on sale at.
If I were reccomending a book for beginners this would certainly be up there in contention.
For an easy at a glance guide at a reasonable price look no further . after all these series of books have been around for years . This has not happened by accident. ...

Collins Tree Guide (Paperback)
Advantages: Accurate Descriptions and Illustrations Disadvantages: Small text
...and Europe
What is it?
Collins Tree Guide is a book that describes over 1500 trees. This is the largest single-volume ever included in a field guide. The book has a black cover with white and gold text with a solitary tree illustrated in the centre of the cover. The book is stunning and feels like a prized possession in your hand. The cover is very well designed but we all know the saying, never judge a book by the cover!
Inside the book ... ...I have never found a Collins Guide that has poor illustrations and this book is no exception. The Illustrations are very accurate and every species is portrayed in fine detail. Seasonal changes are considered along with flowers and fruit. (N.B. in botanical terms fruit refers to the seed). Summary
I think it fair to say that this is a very comprehensive guide to the trees of Britain and Ireland. The author acknowledges that not all trees could ...

Grow Your own Drugs - Never Judge a Book By Its Cover!
Advantages: Good Photography, Accurate information, Concise, fun Disadvantages: Overpriced
...appalled to find James Wong's Grow Your own Drugs book standing center piece on my dining table. "What the"??!! Seathing I grabbed the offensive hardback and marched into the kitchen where my partner stood with a smug look on his face. After a good grilling he burst out laughing. Speechless and confused I looked again at the cover that also told me (in my defence, in smaller writing) Easy Recipes for Natural Remedies and Beauty Fixes. "Oh"!
With ... ...is a little overpriced, however WHSmith currently have £5 OFF and so at £11.99 I felt that it was a reasonable buy.
The book is to accompany a series that appeared on BBC, but I did not see this, so cannot comment. As I mentioned the book is hardback by Collins. The photographs are proffessional, detailed and enticing. By this I mean that they draw you in, make you want to feel, taste, make and use the recipes.
Focusing on increasing herbal interest ...
