I'm sure that everybody is familiar with galic by now, a bulb head that is encased in a thin papery sheaf, split into 12 ish cloves inside. It is well known for it's antispetic and antibiotic properties. I have on occassion rubbed some onto a burn. It stings and smells a bit, but it takes all of the heat out of it, just like witch-hazel does. It also has properties known for reducing colesterol and some other heart disease, breaks up blood clots, regulating sugar levels and reducing blood pressure.
It is a perennial herb, and you can buy the sets from garden centre, they look like mini garlic cloves. I plant single garic cloves in my herb patch and very soon a long green shoot appears. I use this and it is very flavoursome and tender. Lovely on garlic bread or mushrooms. I have done this for about 3 years, but have never seen a full bulb of garlic appear.
Aspen's review on garlic is well worth a read, as he explains why this is, I don't want to copy his comments, so please read his opinion.

I can only eat a little bit of garlic, usually on garlic bread with cheese. No I've never been to Rosie O gradys. I've also sent you a message in your guestbook. I'm going soon bye. Have a good holiday.

Advantages: Dried marjoram can be stored for ages in the kitchen cupboard Disadvantages: Sometimes the fresh version can be sold out in the supermarket
