(+) Cheap compared to standalone, removes the need for seperate sat nav (-) No post code only search but this can be resolved with adding a house number of any house
(+) Large clear menu for touchscreen. Quick setup to navigate to postcodes. Clear driving instruction. (-) Poor POIs, Lack of route preview. Missing villages. No cam preview found.

PC Navigator 8 with UK, Ireland and Europe maps. I highly recommend this product. Easy to install and use. Simple user menu's, Find and Navigate, Address, Postcode or Places of Interest, help to find your way to your destinations. Also has Speed camera locations which will need updating from time to time. Voice assistant is pleasent to listen to.
I have this installed on my EEE PC (701 Windows) coupled with a GPS receiver (USB). Works seamlessly.
I would like the speed camera feature to warn me of up coming cameras, it changes from white (no cameras) to amber (Camera detected 500 yds) and red with an alarm when you pass the camera. Maybe I need to check the setting again to see if I have set this feature up correctly.
Because I am using the EE PC I needed to find a suitable mounting for the PC, and I tested the available mounts ...
Advantages: gets me where i want to be Disadvantages: a little quiet
typically for a satnav it is a dark grey colour with a silver inset around the screen, the screen itself is I would say the most important part of the unit and is a decent size with no buttons around it - unlike my fathers older satnav - as it is a touch screen model. On one side there is a slot for an SD memory card so you can download new maps to increase its range, though stored in its internal memory are maps of the entire UK (and EU according to the box but I havent tried this yet). The on off button is a slider on the top of the unit, though when you plug it in to the cars power socket it is turned on automatically.
Removing the unit from the box setting it up is very simple, a short calibration test ensures that the screen settings are working correctly, then a 'Warning' screen which suggests you make alterations only when stationary ...
