Garmin xt mobile A-OK highly recommended

Advantages: Cheap compared to standalone, removes the need for seperate sat nav
Disadvantages: No post code only search but this can be resolved with adding a house number of any house

lets the user select things like castles, petrol stations etc, very invaluable and works well. Recent finds - This option lets you navigate to an address previously navigated to. Google local search - This is by far the best extra feature, you can use the phones mobile internet to search google for extra things e.g Food & Drink, Fuel, Transportation, Lodging, Shopping, Bank, Parking, Entertainment, Recreation, Attractions, Hospital, Community, Auto services i.e Repair garages The second main menu option is view map, i use this with the free speed camera database and have it on during my journeys to to the right limits and avoid points. The program opens up really quickly and can lock on to satellites very quickly using A-gps, this uses the mobile phone masts to already get some gps co-ordinates, i would recommend keeping this on charge ...

Garmin Helps You Go the Distance

Garmin are a relatively new company when it comes to GPS (Global Positioning Systems), yet with this product the seem set to face up to competitors TomTom and the like. What is it? In a nutshell, this is a microSD (memory card) that slots in to your Windows Mobile, Palm, or Symbian phone; which in turn gives you a GPS navigation system at your fingertips. You need never get lost again - wherever you are in Europe. It also provides coverage where you wouldn't have normal phone signal - which means you have directions when you need them the most. TomTom Wireless GPS Receiver 20 channel GPS receiver module

Advantages: good
Disadvantages: none

I dont have a 20 channel receiver however I do have a 12 channel receiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes. The GPS receiver looks identical to the 20 channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong. It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge!
