Advantages Good maps, great features and durability.

Disadvantages Fussy touchscreen, varying map scale.

I bought my Garmin Nuvi 200 second hand from a friend and it's getting on to be about 3 years old. I only use it on long journeys when I really don't know where I'm going and in those cases this little baby is indispensable. The only time I got lost using this satnav was truly my own fault for assuming it didn't know what it was talking about. Bad move.

I find the display is a good size, not too big to be distracting but not so small you can't see the directions. The range of the volume is extensive enough to cover all your needs. It can be quiet enough so you just hear that it's telling you something without being obtrusive and loud enough so that you can't miss it. I tend to have mine turned down quite low so I can just use it as a prompt.

The maps are quite clear but they do change in scale so it can look like your next turn is closer than it really is, once you get used to this and use the other information on the screen the map scale matters a lot less.

I really like the features of this satnav. I like that I can ask it for nearby shops, petrol stations and attractions. These features have been so valuable to me on more than one occasion!

The battery life is good and can last for several hundred miles before dying, enough to get you nice and lost!

The only real down side to this satnav, I feel, is the touchscreen. It can be really frustrating when you're trying to enter a destination and it keeps picking up the wrong letter. Sometimes it only needs a feather-light touch and other times it seems like you have to press firmly to make it acknowledge you. Other than that this is a good quality item that should get you where you're going!

Remember, a satnav is only as good as it's last map update, keep your satnav up to date!
