I had my Garmin Zumo 550 for nearly two years. I bought it because it was top of the range motorcycle sat nav. What i liked about it: whole Europe covered, shock and waterproof, quick and easy to use(don't have to take gloves off), loads of extras( fuel gauge,avg speed,compass, useful information like garages, petrol stations, hotels etc,mp3 player, Bluetooth, not bad memory capacity,speed cameras alerts.
What i disliked about it : after 1 hour motorway ride in rain it stopped working,but surprisingly it was mounting bracket not sat nav itself which got wet.Sometimes bit slow I used to miss turn awaiting for navigation to recalculate route.Little bit tricky to supply power from motorbike - no instructions for DIY.
After all i think it's good navigator but a little bit pricey. ...

The good: The Zumo 550 provides text- and voice-guided directions to motorcyclists the unit has a built-in
MP3 player and integrated Bluetooth for hands-free calling (works great with Bluetooth helmet).
The interchangeable faceplates give you some customization options to fit the look of your bike or car.
The unit is waterproof so river crossings and rain will not stop you from finding your way.
The touch screen can be optimized to suit your needs i.e. Font sizes and layout.
All options and buttons are clearly marked and easy to use.
The feature I like the most is the display colors switching from day to night color automatically at sunset.
Maps can be viewed in 2D or 3D, the choices are endless!!
The bad: The software database is a bit outdated and needs updating; also, there is no MAC support.

Whilst there are loads of sat nav units for cars giving a large range of choice to suit all budgets and tastes, the same cannot be said for bike sat nav units. Basically, there are two to choose from: The TomTom Rider or the Garmin Zumo 550.

The Zumo comes in a box measuring 29 cm x 20 cm x 14 cm with a photograph of the Zumo on it. On the back of the box there is a map of Europe. At first glance you?d be mistaken for thinking it was just ?for show? however, on closer inspection this picture does serve a specific purpose.
Depending on the package purchased (different packages come with different maps) the countries of Europe will be shaded grey. By looking at the countries shaded it is possible to tell what countries the package covers and whether it is ...
