I've owned the Garmin Streetpilot for a while now and used it many times.

The unit comes with a holder and suction cup which can attach to the dash or the windscreen and the power cable is plenty long enough to reach the cigarette power socket. The Street pilot also has a SD card which can be updated with maps from the internet.

The screen is quite a good size and touch sensitivity is responsive and acurate. I've never used it for speed camera locations so sorry i can't coment on this part.

It finds and locks onto the satelites pretty quick and once you've input your destination you can be on your way in a couple of minutes. I've mainly used postcodes to find a destination although the unit works pretty well with street names and numbers.

Where I have a problem with the software, is not showing you what turning you're gonna take after the current one. e.g. tomtom software shows you a small symbol in the corner of a left turn even though this might be a distance away. this enables you to get in the right lane or overtake etc. The Garmin Streetpilot doesn't do this so if you're stuck in the left hand lane you might suddenly find you need to be in the right hand lane with one a short distance to cover.

This is only a minor gripe and on the whole the unit has worked flawlessly for me and is also a bit cheaper than competitors. battery life is very good and can easily last over an hour. although presumably most people would just plug it into the ciggie lighter anyway (if you have one!)

I'd recommend the Streetpilot to anyone thats driving occasionally and needs a cheap decent GPS. If you're constantly in the city on busy roads that have many lanes etc then you might want to stick with the well known TomTom versions.
The Streetpilot can be your for approx £260 or a bit cheaper off ebay. The main stockists are Halfords, although a quick search on google will return many stockists.
