Garmin nüvi 270

Advantages: Sleak, compact and aesthetically pleasing
Disadvantages: Innacurate on some roads, commands sometimes confusing

...Purchasing the Garmin Nuvi..... I bought this unit for my girlfriend as a present sometime back in the hope that it would help her find the exit out of that proverbial paper bag. At the time of purchase, I had narrowed my choice down to two satellite navigation systems that both fell well within my price range; the Tomtom One and the Garmin Nuvi 300, both of which contained GB maps only. Based on my previous experience in using handheld GPS units for hiking and general map work and the fact that Garmin are well represented within the GPS world, I chose the Nuvi over the Tomtom. I was made further confident of my choice when I found the unit for approx £30 less than the TomTom One. Initial impressions.... Advantages: Portable.
Disadvantages: Widescreen is not really necessary.

...I recently bought this product after my partner started using my nuvi 310 on a permanent basis. I thought rather than trying to get it back I would buy a new one. Aside from the traffic receiver, and the obvious wide screen this is virtually identical to the 310. This unit however comes with a very handy "custom points of interest" feature which alerts you to any fixed speed cameras, and locations commonly used for mobile speed cameras. This fact alone is a good enough reason to buy the unit. The 610t also has, as the other nuvi's do, blootooth built in to act as a hands-free device. Very handy, but on occasion it is slightly difficult for the other person to hear what you are saying. I must point out that this is usually only when the background noise is quite high.... Advantages: Slim, A breeze to use, Good battery.
Disadvantages: Audio output when in car not loud, even on maximum setting.

...Purchased this product 3 months ago. Excellent satnav system, does what it says on the box. The accident black spot camera updates are a breeze to load. The on-board aerial incorporated within the unit is outstanding, even in those with the special thermic window screens, if there should be any difficulties then there is a connection for an external aerial to be fitted. The only drawback with the unit I have, is that the audio output is not very loud even when turned up to the maximum setting. But all in all the unit is a vast improvement on my previous satnav. With all the functions that are available on this unit, (see the various websites for further info) I would recommend the Garmin nüvi 760 GPS receiver to anybody.... Read review
