I bought this product because I have I have annoying combination skin and get break outs during PMT. I remember being told that my spots would clear up in my early twenties, now I am 23 I am getting quite irritated by my blasted 'teenage skin'. I don't have lots of spots, I just suffer from the normal blackheads and breakouts during PMT. Anyway, I decided to take matters into my own hands and put on a full-on offensive against my spots.
I purchased 'Garnier (Skin Naturals) Pure A Intensive Night Treatment Gel', in conjunction with other Pure A products to begin a new regime. The gel was £4.24 from Tesco for a 40ml tube. It is packaged in a small cardboard box which may be recycled. The tube is made from a plastic that may also be recycled.
Description: the gel claims to clear and tone down imperfections, blotches, visible pores or marks which are caused as a result of hormonal fluctuations and pollution. The product is designed for combination or greasy skin.
This product is special in that it is designed to be applied at night after cleansing and toning. According to Garnier, skin is more 'receptive' at night which means imperfections may be better treated.
This gel is supposed to be an 'intensive' formula. This leads one to conclude that it is stronger than a daily treatment gel. The main ingredients include zinc (oil regulating), salicylic acid (anti-bacterial), and natural cucumber extract (refreshing and hydrating). It claims also to have some type of exfoliating action and to leave your skin feeling fresh.
Did it work for? I have combination skin: it gets oily in the t-zone and dry elsewhere. Therefore this product is designed for my skin-type. I'm fairy certain that my imperfections are caused by hormonal fluctuations. According to the packaging I am therefore the correct skin-type.
I applied it as directed after cleansing and toning with other Garnier Pure A products. The product is a clear gel with a pleasant smell of cucumber. It is dispensed via a fine nozzle which ensures you do not squeeze out too much product. I applied it all over my face. One immediately realises that it is not a moisturiser in that it is not absorbed into the skin. Instead it sits on your face like a film, or at least it felt like a film. It felt strange and greasy even though it claims to have a non-greasy texture. When I had awoken the next morning my skin felt very uncomfortable and even more greasy. After washing it off I didn't notice any of the changes as mentioned above. And after a week of use my pores were not smaller and I still had all my black heads and the occasional spot.
Therefore, at £4.24 I think this is a bit of a rip off considering there is no palpable improvement on skin imperfections, and it is not pleasant to use.

...people aren't a fan of Garnier products but I've always found them to do the job well
I don't find myself becoming spotty all the time only at certain times of the month (the wonders of being a woman) Now I'm 24 and I am always looking for products that will clear up my skin when I do get these break outs and as quickly as possible

Advantages: Fresh and light on skin, reduces pore size, evens out skin tone Disadvantages: None
I started using this moisturiser as when i first spotted it on the high street it was on of the few products that seemed to fit my skin type exactly. I have comination skin which can be prone to blemishes, but also i have slightly enlarged pores which are hereditary which are more visible obviously when i take my make-up off.
Its formula has with salicylic acid and zinc and claims to purifies imperfections and helps prevent them appearing, hydrate the skin, refine pores and even skin tone.
You apply it as any normal moisturiser. I began to use it after washing my face in the morning and then after a while started to use the GarnierPureNightTreatment before going to bed.
The dailymoisturiser feels fresh and tingly when applied and i found the consistency excellent for combination skin. It feels hydrating and light.
