I really liked the design. To be, the bottle looks like a big slice of mango and yellow is such a happy colour. As soon as I saw it “live” on a shelve, not just a picture, I was sold.

Finally, there’s a product that not only makes you look sun-kissed but also moisturises AND DOES NOT STINK OF FAKE TAN!
I’ve been using fake tans for the last 10 years or so and always liked them a lot. But in my opinion, creating a moisturiser with a tint of self-tan was one of the best discoveries any company could come up with. The only problem they seemed to be unable to sort out was THE SMELL. I am still struggling to understand why these products have to be so stinky. Not like I would not use them because of that but one can only hope…
Last week as I finished yet another bottle of self-tanning moisturiser and had to go and find something again. I hesitated at first because as beautiful as the skin can look the very thought of smell could kill any good intentions of safe tanning.
Eventually, after reading a few reviews on ciao I decided to try Garnier Summer Body Lotion.

I really liked the design. To be, the bottle looks like a big slice of mango and yellow is such a happy colour. As soon as I saw it “live” on a shelve, not just a picture, I was sold.
I must confess, I am very sceptical. Even if 100 people tell me, something is good I’ll still want to try it myself first, just to make sure. So the first thing for me was to check the smell. And God, what a lovely surprise! The lotion does have a smell but it’s sweet, almost caramel like and there’s no any hint of that horrible fake-tan fragrance, absolutely none!
It also contains chamomile extract that is very beneficial for your skin as chamomile has healing and calming properties.
The product is dermatologically tested.
*** HOW DOES IT WORK AND WHAT DO I THINK OF IT ***
As any good self-tanning products, Summer Body contains dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a colourless sugar – the only colour additive approved by FDA for use in self-tanning products. Once applied, DHA reacts with dead cells in the outer layer of the skin epidermis called stratum corneum, to make the skin look darker. The colour wouldn’t come off with a wash but it does fade within 5-7 days (depending on the product and intensity of the pigment) as the dead skin cells slough off. That is why it is advised to apply your self-tanning product every few days.
Unlike stronger self-tanning sprays and creams, you can use this moisturiser every day gradually building up a shade of tan you like. I use it every evening and noticed that my skin colour changed after two applications. The colour is even with no streaks in sight.
It’s still quite fair (4 applications so far) but I don’t look pale and miserable any more.
The consistency of the moisturiser is very light and non-greasy. It quickly sinks into the skin and you can dress within a couple of minutes. Remember, that you won’t been much lotion – little goes a long way.
ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS after the application!!! Although barely there tint, it can build up on your palms and between the fingers– not something you would be happy about unless you want to look like a Bengal tiger..
The fragrance is pleasant but I wouldn’t apply the lotion in the morning all over (maybe just on my legs) as it would be quite a cocktail of a lovely smell of Summer Body and your favourite perfume!
The skin feels moisturised and comfortable. Summer Body does not irritate my skin like some products do (I don’t mention names but some self-tanning lotions actually cause a bit of rash on my chest and back, which was a disaster as I couldn’t wear any summer-tops for a few days…)
And one more thing I need to mention. So far Summer Body did not stain any of my clothes. You can imagine, how suicidal it can be to wear black or dark colours in summer but most of the self-tanning moisturisers can ruin any white or cream clothes and they tend to stay there forever and are very difficult to wash off. This time it’s a totally different situation. Well, so far… I don’t know whether it’s going to change in a few weeks time when the intensity of the tan is stronger but… so far so good…
*** WHOULD I BUY IT AGAIN? ***
Yes, definitely! And next time it will be a 400ml bottle. J *** QUICK REMINDER ***
Don’t forget that self-tanning moisturiser does not protect you from the harmful effects of sun as it doesn’t no contain UVA/UVB filters.
And… again… wash your hands after each application. J

Review of Garnier Summer Body Moisturising Lotion
...eye straight away with the Garnier logo and leaf on the front along with quite a bit of writing on the front explaining what it does. The bottle is the usual Garnier shape which is different to most other bottles. It is easy to use with a flip cap on the top. ===My Experience=== I opened the bottle and the first thing I did was smell it, and I was really pleased with the smell. It is a really nice fresh fruity smell, it reminded me of the smell of ... ...smell nice but usually you can still smell undertones of that biscuity smell, but with this I couldn't detect it at all. I was surprised by the texture though, it's really watery and literally pours out of the bottle! I found this really annoying because far too much was coming out, and because it was so watery while I rubbed it in it was splashing everywhere! However because it is watery it is really refreshing on the skin and doesn't feel at all ...

...is when I came across Garnier Summerbody Lotion.
The Summerbody Lotion comes in two different shades there is Fair to Light which is self explanatory really and is for the paler among us because this gives them a colour which will suit their skin tone. Me, I am olive skinned so I opted for the Deep Sun Kissed Look as I wanted it to show a difference on my skin and Fair to Light would probably not show up on me. The bottle stands out being a golden ... ...shaped and has the Garnier logo displayed on the front and the Summerbody title so that it is clear what the product is. It claims that it is a Moisturising Lotion for a sun kissed look but the wording is misleading. It says it gradually builds a natural looking sun kissed tan and that is it effective 12 hours moisturisation but I thought this looked like it meant it would work from 12 hours. The back has all questions and answers you may want to ...

Garnier Summer Body Lotion
Garnier Summer Body Lotion is available from boots, superdrug and some of the supermarkets, for 250ml full price it costs around £5 but is frequently on special offer and mine cost just £2.49 from Boots. I went for the deep sun kissed look varient, there is also a lighter glow available.
I am a big fan of St.tropez mousse but find it a bit pricey to be using on a day to day basis so I decided with the weather hotting ... ...bit of attention to try one of the everyday use lotions. I have used johnsons holiday skin some time ago but didn't like the underlying 'fake tan' odour. As I browsed in the store I had a sniff of each of the different brands e.g johnsons, dove and this immediately stood out as the only one on the shelf that didn't have that unmistakable smell to it. So that pretty much sold this product to me, it smells nice!
I have been using the lotion ever since ...

...shade it is. Garnier say that this daily body moisturiser is enriched with a moisturising complex and camomile extract, and is immediately absorbed without greasiness, to leave your skin effectively moisturised and feeling more supple and even softer. When applied to the skin this lotion feels really smooth, it's easy to massage it over the skin and a little goes a long way. It sinks in quickly and does not leave the skin feeling sticky or greasy. I have naturally very pale skin and no matter how long i stay in the sun i never tan, just burn then go white again. I've finally had enough and this summer want to be able to show of my legs without them looking like they've seen a ghost.

Advantages: A great contraceptive- no-one is gonna sleep with you when you use this Disadvantages: Smells, goes yellow, flakes, generally just crap!
I have been using sunbeds for many years now, and no- my skin isn't wrinkled or damaged (yet), but I still like to 'top-up' my tan with a moisturisinglotion every now and again when I haven't been able to get on a sunbed due to whatever reasons such as time.
I first used this when it came out and was a massive hit, but to be honest I can't say I am that impressed at all when I compare it to other moisturisinglotions such as Garnier's summerbody one for example..
The packaging- comes in a nasty orange bottle which is a bit off-putting psychologically as you kinda hope you're not going to turn out the same colour, yet at the same time I suppose it stands out from the rest. Good marketing ploy then, if anything else..
