Advantages: Just Fun, smiles & memories Disadvantages: None
...I've heard many of Garrison's cassette tapes, and many of his stories.
I've heard him on the radio doing his 'old country shows".
Read some of his books.
And, all I can say is this.
If you like country living, if you are tired of talk about mass murderers and the latest in the Gulf War, if you don't want to hear about any more violence or what happened where to whom in the form of gossip, if you just want to read or listen to something DIFFERENT ..then GarrisonKeillor is just the thing for you .
If you want to smile and laugh and just remember the good old times when people liked people and nobody hated anyone and no one was suing anyone, then GarrisonKeillor books or cassettes or cds will do the trick for you .

Advantages: a thought provoking novel spiced with wry humor Disadvantages: you will love or hate the conclusion

...Cliff, past the pizza joints, Al's used-car lot, Red Cliff County Trust, the Inn, the old brick storefronts, and onto Green Street, and into my garage." -GarrisonKeillor, Wobegon Boy.
3rd person: "Harry wished he had about eight more eyes. he turned his head in every direction as they walked up the street, trying to look at everything at once." -J.K.Rowling, Harry Potter.
-Tense. There are two main tenses used in story writing, past and present. For example-
1. I went downstairs, and got a drink from the kitchen. - Past
2. I go downstairs, and get a drink from the kitchen. - Present
Most stories are written in the past tense (it's easier to write in), but you can use the present tense as well. It doesn't really matter which you choose, as long as you choose one and stick to it. Don't change from one tense to another, or the reader will get...
