Gary Ponting has been a professional snooker player for some years now, but only with moderate success. He hovers around 50 in the world at the moment I believe. A fair player, but not one likely to challenge Ronnie O'Sullivan or Mark Williams. However, in the World 9 Ball pool chjampionship, Gary Ponting might have found his future. Unlike two former world snooker champions: Mark Williams and Joe Johnson, Gary Ponting managed to qualify through the group stages of the world championship. Then he won his match in the last 64, before bowing out gracefully in the last 32. Although he might not have been a major contender for the World 9 Ball championship, he showed enough to indicate that he could have a future in the game. With more practice at the game further improvement is near certain. especially as regards his somewhat questionable tactics at some points. With his potting looking as good as many of the established pool professionals, perhaps this is the future for Gary Ponting.
