The first thing your are going to do when buying the Gateway is check the manufacturer's warranty. For Gateway, to find out about the warranty on the sys, you have two options. This system is completely upgradeable except for the processor, as with most of the Gateway systems. This is a stock model. With 256MG of memory you will need to upgrade unless you don't mind the system running slow. It has a 10GB hard drive, which was more than enough in the early 90's, but for today's standards hard drives start from 20GB and up. The sound is integrated and would be sufficient, but you would be able to upgrade with a standard PCI soundcard.
Gateway's tech support is very good when your issue is in scoope. Tech support is able to trouble shoot any software or hardware problem but they do not cover tutorials or configuration changes. Gateway offers an advanced technical support team that is fee-based. They are called Answers By Gateway and are so technically advanced they would be able to provide you with technical support on any computer that you have (doesn't matter if it is a Gateway or not). Overall this machine is a good system if you are looking for something to browse the internet, use it for word documents, and play simple games, download music, or connect to a server for small business use.
Advantages: Get to take advantage of 12 month warranty? does that count? Disadvantages: Too many to list
To be honest do any of us know someone who is happy with their gateway computer??? didn't think so... if you know some 1 then comment on my opinion and let me know... but i really don't think that will happen. I bought a Gateway computer last year and 3 days later guess hwat? thats right it broke totaly crashed. LEDS still there lit up... fan still going. But no god damn picture on the monitor and nor hardrive activity. I took it back to the shop they took it off me for a whole fortnight. "sorry sir high demand for reapirs it will take two weeks for us to get it back to you" High deman??? you bettya it doesn't s'prise me 1 bit. Hardrive had totaly been bugga'd up... tried to blame me i told em where to go. RAM was f***** as well. Newayz got it back and it 1 month later it froze during memory test evertime. so do we like gateway computers ...
