The Gateway Profile 5.5C Desktop Computer features one Intel Pentium 4 521 2.80GHz processor, 80GB Serial ATA/150 7200 rpm hard drive, and 512MB standard memory. It includes the Windows XP Home with SP2 operating system, and a Combo Drive - CD-RW/DVD-ROM optical drive.
Advantages: One small package that does everything a big desktop system can do. Disadvantages: Internal modem not very fast - get a PCMCIA card
...I wrote the opinion given below in 2001. It is now July 3rd 2003 and I am typing this comment on the very same Gateway Solo 9300, which has lasted very well so far. Last summer I broke the catch on it so it doesn't lock shut any more, but apart from that it is performing brilliantly. I still have 5Gb free hard disk space!! I'm glad I bought it.
*************
Various configurations of the Gateway Solo 9300 are available - mine has a Pentium III 600MHz processor with 160Mb SDRAM and 12Gb hard drive. I bought it to replace a different manufacturer's laptop that short circuited and blew up in my face 12 days after the warranty expired! I had been tempted by what had looked like a bargain offer in a local newspaper. False Economy!! I should have gone to Gateway in the first place, having already had good experience with them in my...

Impressive Home Networking Review ofLinksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway WAG354G - wireless routerby

Advantages: Cheap; Secure; Small; Not ugly; Works well; Relatively easy to configure Disadvantages: warm; No matter how easy they make it networking still complicated.
...the configuration utility. It takes away most of the pain by asking pertinent questions and then automatically configures the Gateway for you, mostly.
Manual configuration of the Gateway is done via your normal web browser (internet Explorer 5.0 and Netscape 6.0 and above are supported). Open this and type the Gateway's IP address (as explained in the quick start guide) into the address bar, then enter the user name and password in the form that appears. By default these are both: admin. You will then be presented with the Gateway's configuration screen, which to all intents and purposes, looks like a web site.
Looking at this is where things can get very daunting for the beginner. The world of networking is a world of abbreviations and complex words like: encapsulation and subnet masks. Take some solace that it's only the brightest of geeks...

...Is this a good quality PC or is it just too expensive to what it actually offers?
Well let me tell you. I have a Gateway 2000 P5-120. It's only 120MHz and only 16mb of Ram with a 1.5GB hard drive. My father bought it 6 years ago for the whole family to use and at that time this was a high spec pc. But if you compare that to todays PC's then it's just plain trash. Well todays PC crash too many times and freeze up too many times. Take TIME for instance. My friend has had to change his TIME computer 3 times now because it keeps on breaking down. It's either the motherboard breaking or the power supply. It's a new story everytime that repeats itself on different victims.
But take Gateway for example. Our PC cost £1600 with 3 years warranty. And up to now it hasn't broken down once. It may be a bit slow but that's not the point. A PC has...
