Advantages: One small package that does everything a big desktop system can do.
Disadvantages: Internal modem not very fast - get a PCMCIA card
...comment on the very same Gateway Solo 9300, which has lasted very well so far. Last summer I broke the catch on it so it doesn't lock shut any more, but apart from that it is performing brilliantly. I still have 5Gb free hard disk space!! I'm glad I bought it.

Beast of a laptop
Review of Gateway Solo 9300XL by

Advantages: Huge screen.
Disadvantages: Drains battery quite quick.
If you want a laptop as a desktop replacement this is the fella.
Features

It has about a 16" screen, supports two monitors simultaneously (LCD + monitor or LCD + TV)
Has TV in and out, digital audio out, DVD Rom, floppy 2* USB, firewire
Built in modem, 2* PCMCIA, Touchpad. Hardware controls for DVD/CD and volume.
What I am trying to say is that this laptop has everything.
PIII 600 or 700, 128 MB RAM standard, 8MB video.
What more ...
...desktop.
Add the docking station, a huge monitor, printer, scanner etc. and your laughing.
The laptop has another two USBs, parallel, serial, digital audio, speaker socket, microphone socket, line out etc.
Build quality is good. Battery life is acceptable.
The only gripe I have is that they have removed the IR port.
When I ordered it, it was included in the spec. but when it arrived it wasn't there. They only put IR into their bottom of the ...
