[+] Choose from four unique characters.
[+] Controls-wise, auto-fire is present which assists in stopping enemy spawning, however only a single shot from a character appears on screen at one time, so it's not just about spamming attacks, especially with the 'Temporary Reflective Shots'.
[-] Enemy spawn from generators happens quickly, and when the numbers of sprites go up, slow-down is brought about!
[-] Characters are teleported from one transporter to another, however not only does this happen slowly, but it has them temporarily susceptible to enemy attacks. Whether there is a science to where they are teleported may be a myth - players might be thrown off by this being seemingly random.
[-] The movable walls are said to be an addition for this version of Gauntlet but these can block routes so players cannot continue on with the game and thus have to reset or wait for death.

[-] Still, player needs to be careful when they want to write down the password, as they may mix-up the letters and numbers. Oddly, there's no option to select for password entry - how to access this screen is shown in the manual!
[-] I'm not fond of: being drained to death by er, Death, being forced to set off Stun Floor, and stages where the walls are invisible.
There is an end to the NES version of Gauntlet, but getting there will be far from easy. Health decreases from the go, however, it is replenished with food and potions, as well as by making it to the exit of treasure rooms whereby the password is also updated - even these become trickier as Gauntlet goes on. Then there's the searching for the clue rooms, and the clues within - which are required to complete the game - under a time limit. The result being, players replaying several stages repeatedly until they meet the requirements.
A good dungeon crawler that's tough as nails and where there is an emphasis on exploring and player progression; performance problems and slight dodgy design prevent Gauntlet from being a great NES game.
Advantages: The intro theme is pretty cool, if you can get 4 players it's no bad Disadvantages: Dodgy dungeon designs, some slowdown, transporter randomness
the villains, pray thy potions be not poisoned! But the real difficulty of Gauntlet II lies in defeating the dragons - best save those super shots, if there are some about. Successfully slaying them can depend on the room size. Survival in this game isn't tough, and I've managed to max out my score well before the 100th level, which is where the game is said to start repeating itself for sure.
Gauntlet II is a dungeon action game with some dodgy design. If you're going to play a Gauntlet game, go for the first one over this, which does at least come to an end.
Gauntlet II for NES - 3/10 ...
Advantages: It Brought back the gaming industry we know today Disadvantages: sore thumbs from the controllers and having to blow the carts 24/7!

The NES Max was designed specifically to send sports game fans to the top of their league, the NES Max replaces the Nintendo Entertainment System's traditional directional pad with a unique 'Control Disc'. The benefit - faster, smoother diagonal movement.
Family Fun Fitness is the aim of the add-on Nintendo Fitness Mat. Double-sided for double the functions, this pressure-sensitive plastic mat has gamers stepping on bombs and building burgers in games like Short Order and Eggsplode.
