I decided a few weeks ago that it was time that I moved with the times and treated myself to an MP4 player. As a part-time dance teacher I have to cart about an inordinate array of CD, tapes and CD players, along with all my dancing gear, so I decided to buy myself a decent player and docking station so I could put all my dancing music on, therefore reducing the amount of stuff I carry and also saves me leaving important CDs at home!
Whilst browsing for a suitable player and docking system I stumbled across this in my local Boots store, it was reduced to £39.99 and I had enough advantage card points to buy it, so I asked the sales assistant for a little more details about the equipment, most importantly for me is I need speakers with a decent output, as when you are teaching a noisy class in a large hall you need to be able to hear the music! The output of these speakers is 30 Watts which is great for the small size of this docking system.

The Docking System

Although made for Ipod this can be used for any type of MP3/MP4 players, which suited me as I had chosen a Sony Walkman as my player.
The product features:
• 15W per channel from 2 speakers
• Multi-iPod compatibility
• FM radio with auto-scan function
• LED display
• Charge and listen (iPod only)
• Remote control with 16 functions
• FastTrack ™ technology to plug and play iPods
• 3.5mm cable included to connect with other audio devices including Laptops, DVD, CD and other MP3 players.
The built in docking station (for iPod only - there are 7 adaptors included) which pops out of the from of the device allows synchronisation, data transfer and recharging options for iPod. The remote control allows full access to iPod as well as the speaker system, for other devices the remote control is only useful to adjust volume and turn the speakers on/off, or for adjusting the radio when in FM mode.

The look

I really like the look of this system, it is sleek and the colours are great, I have it in white but it also comes in black. There are three buttons on the top of the speakers for turning on/off and adjusting the volume when used in combination these buttons can perform other functions. A hidden digital display (red) appears at the top of the speaker when turning on where it displayed Aux, iPod or the radio frequency depending on the function required this can be adjusted either by the buttons on the top of the system or by the remote control. The display also appears when adjusting the volume, I think if using an iPod the time can also be displayed.

How does it perform?

So far I've only really had this playing in the house plugged into my MP4, and I have been impressed, it's very simple looking, and also very simple to use. The output is great and sound crystal clear. Unfortunately as I don't have an iPod the remote control is not the greatest of use which means every time I want to change tracks etc I have to go back to the player, however that's not a major problem. I've not really put it through its paces in a large dance class yet, but I'm sure from what I have heard so far that it will perform well.

==A great deal=
I was all ready to pay the £39.99 for the player with my advantage card but when the assistant rang it through the till it came up at £14.99!! I was told that they are getting rid of all that type of equipment and it had been reduced further, so I was mightily impressed, needless to say the last time I was in there were none left! They do have them in Tesco at half price £34.99 just now!
