I use a variety of on-line music stores in the UK for my equipment. Gear4music.com is one I have used several times due to the easy to use nature of the site. I find navigation is particularly straightforward - the list tabs down the side allow for quick and accurate navigation to necessary categories.
I was prompted to write this review due to my experience of the largest order I have made at Gear4music - I had wanted a Gibson reissue guitar for a long time, and had carefully saved up £2000 for a vintage reissue. I contacted several online music stores - Gear4music.com was about the fourth I got in touch with. I was immediately struck by the prompt response and polite and helpful manner in which I received a reply to my email query, as well as my follow up phone call. The contact page is easily navigated to by a tab across the top of the page, and their phone number is found here also.
Obviously I was very dubious about purchasing such an expensive item, let alone a guitar, from an online seller. However, after regular phone calls over the course of a day, the staff at Gear4music.com advised me that the guitar would be fully inspected prior to shipping, and would be given a full set up by their in house guitar expert. Shortly after I paid through their online system and received email confirmation of my order and the dispatch.
The on-line payment system was relatively straightforward. Annoyingly an account has to be created before purchase, and it took a total of seven clicks to actually make the purchase. On the plus side though, throughout the transaction I felt secure to purchase from Gear4music, and although relatively slow, the checkout process isn't the worst I have used. They have a prominent security notification by Thawte that again gave me confidence.
All purchases of instruments are sent out via 24hr courier (Parcel force) if the item is in stock. In the case of the Gibson guitar it came shipped in it's hard case, in a Gibson box, then in another, well packaged box. I was concerned by some dents to the outside packaging, but fortunately as the guitar was in a hard case it wasn't a problem. Unfortunately the courier was unable to give me a delivery time so I was actually out when it was first delivered, but I managed to get in touch with Parcelforce and have it delivered later that day.

I've now updated the review slightly, is this better?

Ok guys, thanks for the feedback, appreciate it :)
I have actually used them before, but I was trying to focus more on the Gibson guitar purchase as it was such a high value item.
Some of the other reviews, including the negative ones, are based just on singular experiences.

I'm afraid I have to agree with the comment below. A review of an online store would be more helpful if you discussed how easy it was to navigate the site, if you have to set up an account before ordering, how easy it was to enter payment details, how was the layout of the site, etc. I'd be happy to reread/rerate if you updated to include some of this info :) Oh and welcome to Ciao, enjoy the site.
