I live in a state where it is a nightmare to get car insurance. It is especially tough when current companies want to leave. There is an incredibly invoived process for just getting a rate quote.
Geico has recently come in to the state. And I decided to compare rates. Within an hour, I figured out the coverage I wanted, got the rates, and purchased my new car insurance with them, all done online.
Their website is easy and efficient. You can pick and choose different coverages and it gives you the quote instantly. It is also emailed to you so you can go back to it. For the same coverage I had under my other policy, I saved $390/year. Once you find the coverage and premium you want, you can purchase it online and specify the start date. I was approved within 10min and received a policy number. I recieved my insurance card, policy, and statements within 3 business days.
The saving is great but more than that, the convenience and efficiency of the process is revolutionary. I highly recommend it. But be aware that you do have to have a good driving record for Geico to cover you. For small accidents and claims they are not a problem. Good luck!

I have heard that too but have not yet experienced it. That's awful! They have raised my rates after claims, but not so drastically or out of line w/ other insurers. Your friend should fight it. Insurers will take advantage if you don't fight back. I would call them on it cuz that is BS.

GEICO always has the lowest prices but I think they do that by RAISING premiums for rediculous reasons. A friend had her premium raised thirty to fifty dollars just for changing her MAILING address. [She had a post office box number and Just wrote to geico telling them to send her mail instead ==to her home address-- WHICH they already had on their records. A s soon as she changed the address for geico mail , geico raised the premium. [no accidents no tickets for more than 10 years -and they raise for a 'change of address' ] Guess they couldn't find a reason to raise her so they made one up.
So , their low premiums are interesting .. but costly to some good drivers..

Geico is an American company, isn't it? Are they in UK now too?
