Advantages: Good to start with Disadvantages: Belt Drive
...I brought the Gemini XL-100 turntable's for my son a few years ago when he first started getting into spinning disk's.
They taught him well and is now using direct drive turntable's as he say's that they are much better for mixing with, but he does not have a bad word to say about the Gemini XL-100's, It's just that they are belt drive and he would rather use direct drive now.
As i said i brought them a few years now and i can honestly say that my son has used them near on every day that he has had them,( which if you where one of my neighbours you would find this a bad thing, they don't appreaciate him playing his music) without anything ever going wrong with them, the only thing that he has had to replace are the needles.

Advantages: Advantages: Direct Drive, Straight arm (preference) hard wearing Disadvantages: high torque motor which mean bringing those tunes in dead on time is easier.
