Advantages: Good to start with
Disadvantages: Belt Drive

...I brought the Gemini XL-100 turntable's for my son a few years ago when he first started getting into spinning disk's. They taught him well and is now using direct drive turntable's as he say's that they are much better for mixing with, but he does not have a bad word to say about the Gemini XL-100's, It's just that they are belt drive and he would rather use direct drive now. As i said i brought them a few years now and i can honestly say that my son has used them near on every day that he has had them,( which if you where one of my neighbours you would find this a bad thing, they don't appreaciate him playing his music) without anything ever going wrong with them, the only thing that he has had to replace are the needles. ...I bought Roberts Gemini RD3 (my first DAB Digital Radio) to add to the growing collection of Roberts Radios in my house. I generally ADORE Roberts Radios - their sound quality, build quality, features and reliability have always really impressed me. However, I have to say the Roberts Gemini RD3 was a bit of a disappointment. Its main good points are the typical Roberts Build Quality & Looks, and its EXCELLENT sound quality when it comes to playing pop music; it has no problem belting out the bass! However, I found a number of quirks with the radio which have left me rather indifferent towards it. Maybe I'm too fussy, but my main gripes..... * There is a curious distortion (like a harsh gravelly tone) when listening to mens voices on the DAB Tuner - a real pain when listening to Radio 4 and other speech-based stations...
