Well where to start...

It would seem that in 1994 Marvel Comics (home of the X-men, Spider-Man and all the decent super heros) decided to have a teen version of the X-Men, their earlier attempt (The New Mutants) was kinda cool, so now they would do it again, for the MTV generation....

Well they failed, not just a little bit, but a lot...

In my opinion, the cast of characters was the main reason this story failed, none of them were cool, or interesting.... The two teachers for the groups were:

Emma Frost - Telepath
Banshee - Do i have to explain?

Now Emma Frost is quite a good choice, as she used to be one of the X-Mens biggest villains, before havign a change of heart, plus she looks kinda hot too :P However telepaths have been done tod eath in the X books and it didn't seem like they really cared which telepath it was, they wrote the same way for all of them.

Banshee - Ermm.. Scottish, smokes a pipe and screams.. basically your Grandad but with added screaming, he also did not like Emma Frost at all, however that plot kinda vanished a few issues in....

As for the students.... Oh My.. Thinking back now i cant really remember any of their names (never a good sign).. The main one was Jubilee, now if anyone here has ever read any other X-Books, you will have most likely just let out a large groan...

Imagain the most annyoing teenage girl in the world, dress her in ridiculous clothes, and give her pointless powers to make very weak pretty looking energy bolts, and you have Jubilee...

There was also a student who had too much skin, !?! seriously it was all baggy and that was pretty much his power and some other equally unmemorable people.

Amazingly it lasted for 75 issues plus a few annuals and specials...

It was a bold move but it failed, however on the plus side you can probably pick up whole runs of it fairly cheap from places and reading it does pass the time...

My advice is if you want an X-Men title full of teen angst, go for NYX or New X-Men Academy.

GenX appeared with a bunch of other spins from a mutant catastrophe storyline! Weapon X and a bunch of others came out at the sametime.
