many people would have heard a lot about the current mobile operators available mainly them being orange, one2one, vodafone and btcellnet but nothing has ever been said about genie mobile a partner operator in the bt operation. I first heard of genie mobile at one of my local free uk sites where it said you can pick up a sim card for a mere £1, very reasonable but I don't own a credit card so it was no good.
I was again looking round my free sites where I came across a link that said genie sim cards are absolutely free I was shocked I couldn’t believe they would give away sims for free, but its absolutely true. The sim cards are free not only that but the text messages are free subject to you only sending 600 or less a month, also another great thing about it is if your phone is wap enabled that is also free.
What’s the catch I here you say, well there is one that says you have to top up every 30 days which isn't really a problem for me but it may be for only the occasional users. The tariff is also very good on genie and I will tell you about it
This makes genie one of the best tariffs around because I have checked other pre-pay tariffs and this turns out to be the best one. The main reason I chose this network is because I text message very often and often pay the price for it but because this is free I can send 600 texts a month without worrying.
The genie website is full of information about the phones available and also the different tariffs on offer all include free texts and wap but I stuck with the pre-pay because its better for me. There is also a full range of different mobile phones available on there network, there is also a online helper available to answer any queries you may have.
Altogether a brilliant network that is gunning towards the future and together with Bt cellnet May one day take over from orange as the biggest mobile phone operator around. I hope my opinion has come in handy for all mobile phone owners out there.
If you would like to purchase a genie sim card for nothing and I mean nothing follow this link http://www.mobile.genie.co.uk/shop and then click on the pre-pay link
Advantages: 50 free minutes of off-peak calls EVERY day, 600 free text messages per month, free WAP Disadvantages: None
...and find an alternative.
Genie Mobile had the answer! They offer a few tariffs using the BT network, and I found the ideal one for me. I wanted to keep my existing WAP enabled mobile and just connect to a new tariff so I opted for the Off-Peak SIM card pay monthly tariff. For a monthly subscription of £10, I get 50 free off-peak minutes of calls each and EVERY day, 600 free text messages a month (10p each once you use up your free ones), completely ... ...for calls made to other Genie or BT mobile phones (and you can use your free minutes too!). Calls to other mobile networks cost 50p/min peak and 35p/min off-peak. Peak time is from 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday, off-peak is all other times, including weekends and Bank Holidays. Ordering the SIM card was a piece of cake using the website order service and completely free of charge, alternatively you can call Genie on their freefone number to place your ...

WHO ARE GENIE?
Genie Mobile is the web-based division of BTCellnet, or now, O2. The company, Genie, begun with a range of internet services, such as being the first site to offer free texts (SMS) from the internet. It also offered free SMS alerts of email, cheap home internet access and mobile 'Alerts' (offering news, horoscopes, charts etc. via text message for free). Its aim from the start was to combine the technology of the mobile and the internet. ... ...I CARE ABOUT THIS?
Genie Mobile are different to other mobile providers. Their mobiles can only be bought through their website, and there are only a limited range available. Technical support is through the internet, or very expensive premium rate numbers and there are only three tariffs available, which will be mentioned later. However, by cutting costs they are able to offer excellent deals- almost unlimited free text messages and WAP, and, if ...

Advantages: 300 free texts and wap minutes per month Disadvantages: I text all the time now
Genie has now been taken over by O2. However they still have a special range of "genie" packages vailable online which offer much more than a standard PAYG package.
If you log onto the 02 website you can purchase o2 paygo and contract options whcih offer high numbers of free texts messages which were GENIE's speciality:-
Over the last few months I've tended to send an increasing number of text messages through the day. I wanted to buy a PAY AS ... ...of free texts. I used this card in my old phone.
I choose O2 online because of the large number of free texts (300). You need to top up with £10.00 each month to enable you to have these free texts. If you top up during the month you receive a text message a few days before your monthly date to tell you that you will receive another 300 texts from that date. As well as that I can use the £10.00 that I top up with each month to make calls. Call cost ...

...Free! _______________________________ GENIE is the relatively new network that offers you free text messaging and WAP. The service is powered by BT Cellnet, and is available as prepay or pay monthly. Once you have signed up with Genie you can access your account details among other things online. You can also keep your old mobile number if you want, but they do supply you with a new one. (Obviously!) You can purchase a Genie SIM card on the website, ... ...at the present day. Previously Genie were running offers where the SIM cards were free. When you hear SMS and WAP free, you immediately think that's a great deal, but then you think, what's the catch. Well with Genie, all you have to do is top up your phone every 30 days, with a ten pound voucher. If you have any spare money from the previous month then it will be carried over. However, if you only bought the SIM card from Genie, (But not the phone) ...

Advantages: Good coverage, excellent features Disadvantages: Cost
Vodafone has excellent coverage around the major cities, however service is patchy in some of the rural areas I've visited recently such as the Scottish Borders and some regions of the West Country. However when you have service it is very clear and I would have no complaints.
Vodafone is one of the more expensive UK networks, I also use Bt Cellnet's GenieMobile which is much cheaper but the features and extra service provided my Vodafone are excellent, especially the very cheap calls between vodafone mobiles.
Topping up with a top-up card is a breeze and topping up with credit cards is very secure. However the costs for an occassional user are over the top, but for regular users I would not grumble about how much I pay.
There are a wide variety of both contract and pre-pay tarriffs - and for regular users there is bound to be ...

Advantages: Widely available products on this network Disadvantages: Horrendous connection problems and poor customer service
I previously had a Pay as You Go mobile on the Orange network and I have to say I was satisfied with it completely. Then the first WAP phones came out and in my innocence I bought one of the contraptions. The phone itself was a Mitsubishi Trium and I would stress I have no problems with the phone itself.
The deal on offer in Dixons was keenly priced and the network available was BT Cellnet. The call charges on this network are on a par with their competitors and I bought the phone on this basis. As a bit of a bonus BT Cellnet give me 200 minutes a month of free calltime which can be used either on the WAP internet via GenieMobile or to any landline. This is quite good although the minutes must be used at weekends only.
However, the downside to this is that a top up voucher of at least £10 must be purchased every thirty days to ...

Advantages: Good Tariffs, Reasonable Coverage Disadvantages: Poor Customer Service
In 2000 I signed up online with GenieMobile for my first ever mobile. I was with Gnie for about a year before it was merged with BT Cellnet and formed the O2 network.
O2?s main benefit for me is online management of my mobile account, however if you preferred to receive something in writing then statements can also be received through the post.
The merge, at first, did not seem to affect me. I was still using the contract that that I had with Genie, which was an unlimited amount of free text messages in a month and 60 minutes of off peak minutes to any Geniemobile or BT Landline. Then out of the blue I received a text message on my mobile saying that my contract was to be altered to 600 free text messages a month and 50 minutes free off peak minutes. O2 did not send anything in writing which was quite surprising.
My old ...
