Advantages: great idea Disadvantages: needs planning
...Geoff Hamilton was a brillant Television Gardener and Writer.
In the series "Ornamental Kitchen Garden" he grows flowers and produce such as vegetables together.
This is a great idea, especially if you have a small garden or allotment.
As a Presenter, Geoff gets stuck in and does all the jobs himself, including the messy ones!!
Geoff was known for giving great money saving ideas, such as his Plant carry cot. This was the empty frozen food hamper box.Sting was threaded through the lid to make a handle.
The stuck in the mud B.B.C. should show all Geoff Hamilton's Programmes again, Especially at peak times such as 7p.m. on a Friday evening.
Geoff's memory lives on in his programmes and books as well in our Hearts!!
There will never be another TV gardener in the same league as Geoff Hamilton.
Alan Titchmarsh forget it !...

Advantages: Funny, modern and different Disadvantages: A bit egotistical and lacking in morals
...Geoff Dyer is definitely an author with a personality.
In 'Yoga for people who cant be bothered to do it' he narrates his rather random travels around the world with a cynical and witty (depending on your opinion) voice.
He seems to spend most of his time either high on drugs or drink, complaining about the local culture and sleeping with girls. I suppose he could be seen as the epitomy of the modern traveller!
The thing with Dyer is that he doesnt do justice to the countries he is visiting. Whilst you get some interesting snippets of information, I expect accidently, he revels in telling of his innermost ponderings and experiences with people, and that is really what this book is about.
I wouldnt buy this book as a travel book. To be fair, you're not going to learn an awful lot about the countries he visited, in fact I'm struggling...

Advantages: Fantastic and under used system Disadvantages: A little pricey
...I fully recommend purchasing the Ornamental Kitchen Garden BBC book by the former TV gardening legend Geoff Hamilton.
The book shows you how to plant your vegetables in the same beds and borders as your flowers and small shrubs .
The idea is that because the veg and indeed fruit are hidden away from flying pests they are protected from attack without the need to resort to chemical spraying .
Also this method of growing takes up less space for the modern small gardens of today.
There is no need to find space for an allotment part of the garden and by replacing plants continually you can obtain quite high yields over the length of the season.
In conclusion a quality BBC book well worth money for it's different approach....
