This Opinion is on Saving our Environment and Has nothing to do with Education Courses. I could not find the appropiate catagory. Thank you.

Pollution is not the only threat to the planet. Another concern is the exhaustiopn of the world's resources. Our lifestyle has resulted in the world's resources being used up so quickly that they could run out. The non-renewable resources that are thought to be running out include oil, gas and many minerals. Ciao members could help to save natural resources by recycling glass and paper, or turning off gas and electrical appliances when they are not in use. Small actions like this can have a positive effect when repeated by people on a national or global scale.

Other resources are being used up faster than they can be replaced. This includes trees. Timber has been used for centuries to build furniture, houses and ships, but re-planting ensured that there was no significant reduction in the world's forests. But the rainforests are now disappearing at a rate that could cause them to be destryoed within the next 50 years!!

But our planet can be saved.

Most people are concerned about what is happening to the planet, but many argue that there is nothing they can do to stop the pollution. This is a mistaken belief, because every individual could reduce the harm he or she causes to the environment.

Ciao members can:

-Avoid dropping litter, which makes people's immediate enviroment unpleasant.

-Avoid using aerosols which contains CFC's

-Walk or use public transport where possible to reduce the polluction by car exhausts

-Avoid the use of chemicals in the garden by using organic gardening methods instead

-Start a compost heap in the garden to recycle organic household waste

-Avoid buying pre-packaged goods in plastic or polystyrene containers

-Join Conservation groups like the Friends of the Earth and persuade governments to reduce the destruction of forests and implement Eco-friendly policies.

People can make a difference.

We should force the mass-market introducement and the knowledge about two most-eco-products which habe been developed recently: 1. natural gas which uses organic household waste to procuces energy 2. fuel cells to produce energy from hydrogen which itself can be a product of nature gas 3. This beside solar- and wind-energy forms an energy-circle which also is supplied by the most healthy vegatarian food - a further an important aim of ecological changement. All this doesn't contradict economical rules but will in contrary be a big market for future enterprises!

It is scary how much resources we use. I remember reading that one person living in Manhattan consumes 120 times as much resources in a day as a person in Madagascar (island off Africa). Craziness.
