I was bought this grill for Christmas and with all the healthy eating in mind I thought it was a rather good idea.

What you get in the box__

First you have your grill and this is just like a sandwich maker except you have two griddle plates and what they call a floating hinge so if you have chops or thick meat the top fits nicely on.

Next are two drip trays to catch the fat and juices that run off while you are cooking, I think they give you two because they are not very big and you may need two if your meat is very fatty.

You are also given a spatula at first I thought it was for cleaning the grill because of its shape, it has groves in it which fit nicely along the grooves of the grill, then I realised it was to turn your food.

How to use the grill__

It's a very simple idea you just plug it in and wait for the red light to turn off and you are ready to cook, oh and of course make sure your drip tray is in place before you start to cook. This you just push under the grill at the front. On this one there are no timers or temperature control. Place whatever you are cooking on the top and close the lid and away you go, you can hear sizzling noises coming from it and I had to stand and watch the fat run off, this takes a few minutes.

What can I cook on my grilling machine__

At first I thought it would be for meat but as I read the instruction leaflet I found out you can cook all sorts of things for example; Meat, seafood, fruit, vegetables and even toasted sandwiches.

My first experience__

I wanted to try something really fatty so I bought some Ross grill steaks to try, I found I could place four of these on the grill and they cooked lovely, I had a habit of turning them and of course you don't need to because it has a griddle plate on the top. If I had left them alone they would have come out with little dark stripes on because of the grooves, I cooked them for about ten minutes and they were fine, the amount of fat and water that came off was unbelievable. This drips down into the drip tray because the grill is slanted forward slightly and the groves are facing forward too.

I have also cooked lamb and pork chops, sausages which I had to turn to cook evenly, Bacon and thick slices of tomato. I was impressed with all of these.

How to clean it__

This is quite easy too because it is non stick. I waited for it to cool a little first and just wiped it with kitchen towel, this seemed to work really well and then I wiped it with a damp cloth and hey presto a grill that looks as good as new, I poured the fat into a bowel and washed the drip tray in hot soapy water.

My thoughts__

I was very impressed with my grill the food was lovely and I was easy to clean, the only grumble I have it is not big enough for a family of three, it just about worked for the two of us, I find I need to use it twice and just store the cooked food on a low heat in the oven until the rest is ready. There are some cooking times in the leaflet you get with it but I think it is just trial and error, until you get used to it, I much rather have food that is slightly over cooked than under cooked.

If you were to get one I would get the biggest size you can, just so you don't need to use it twice to get a meal for three or more, maybe we just eat too much but four grill steaks is all I could fit on myn in one go.

The food comes out lovely and tender, brown and obviously a lot less fat too. I think the sausages were the best, they were firm and evenly cooked. The pork was nice but I think I should have left it slightly longer as the fat was not crisp but I'm not sure how crisp It would go without the meat burning. I have yet to try a toasted sandwich.

There are a few recipes in the leaflet which I may well try one day.
