The George Foreman range of health grills has been around for a while now, but I must admit that up until a few months ago I had avoided all the hype. "it's just an electric griddle pan" I told the Mrs, "And anyway what good is a health grill from a ukulele playing, window cleaning funnyman anyway?". Yes it's an obvious joke but you would be amazed just how many times a day, when I worked for a famous electrical shop, that people ... ...any kitchen that has a George in it and someone will say "you should see the amount of FAT that comes out of it!" as if they never realised that double fat fat burgers contained fat. You do end up with little ridges reminiscent of a barbecue grill on your food of choice, but it is clearly cooked. This is because the combination of pressure from the plates and the heat it reaches do a remarkable job. Yes I was surprised when the instruction book said ...

Advantages: easy to clean, not spitting occurs, speedy cooking, healthy but not dry food Disadvantages: only suitable for meal for 2-3 people, no temperature control, poorly designed bread warming tray
...saw the advertisement for the George Foreman grill, however my Grandma decided they were brilliant and obviously a kitchen gadget I would need. The price is variable. Shop around as there are often offers on. I bought mine for £15.
I have soon been converted to its charms.
The space that it occupies is quite small. No more than a large toaster. Even in a small kitchen it does not cramp the space. To give an idea, it can fit about 3 chicken breasts ... ...to clean.
With the George Foreman grill, this is not a problem as any fat that spits is enclosed within the grill. It is very clean.
The quality of the food cooked is also much better than in a grill which can often leave the food quite dry. The grill produces food which appears oven baked in appearance but of course the fat has been drained away as a grill would do.
The part of the design which I dislike, is the bun warming tray which on mine ...

Advantages: Cooks both sides at once. Disadvantages: Drip tray's are a bit shallow.
The George Junior grill that I've got is in a silver colour with a purple see through lid, but they also sell them with a green see through lid and a clear see through lid,
and comes complete with 2 drip tray's and 2 spatulas.
I bought mine about 4 years ago and they are still selling them in the shops now and also in larger sizes.
At the time I bought mine they were advertising them all over the place, and so popular were they that most of my ... ...reducing grilling machines!
The George Junior is the smaller of these grilling machines and opens up to reveal the top and bottom grill plates, and .to give you an idea of the cooking area ........4 large burgers will fit neatly onto the bottom grill plate,
Above the grill plates there is a separate compartment under the coloured lid which is the bun or muffin warmer,
which does just that! warm's the buns or muffin's ready for the burgers ect....

Advantages: Sausages sausages sausages Disadvantages: Would not cook anything else on it
...back we were given a George Foreman GR20 I jumped on it. Well, not literally, but I couldn't wait to give it a go. It came complete with instructions and some sort of cleaning device. I quickly leafed through the instructions before tossing them aside like an impatient child with a new toy.
There really is little need for instructions. The machine is very simple and basic, two grooved hot plates connected by hinges that slope at an angle to allow ... ...plastic bowls that come with it. There is no on/off switch or temperature control. You just plug the thing on and wait for it to heat up, which takes about ninety seconds. Pop the food on to the bottom plate before placing the upper lid on top. The weight of the latter pushes down on the food, forcing the fat out as it heats up, ending up in the fat bowl you have placed under the grill. You periodically check your food before taking it out and switching ...

Advantages: Grills food quickly, reduces fat supposedly Disadvantages: Not big enough, hard to clean, no temperature control
...adore I happened upon the George Foreman, Lean, Mean, Fat reducing, grilling machine, try saying that three times without stopping. Although they come in a range of sizes, I chose the Junior version, due to the fact I don't have a lot of space in my kitchen.
~~~In the box~~~
The George Foreman Junior comes supplied with a drip tray, instruction book, and a rather pathetically flimsy spatula. The instruction book is pretty handy as it gives recommended ... ...general safety and cleaning guidelines.
~~~The Styling~~~
The grill looks very much like a silvery grey sandwich toaster and is about the same size too. There is a clear plastic bubble on top, which turns out to be a bun warmer, note I said bun not bum, so it's no good sitting on it too warm yourself up on cold days.
When you lift the lid, there are two (yes two) black non-stick ridged cooking surfaces, one on the base and another on the lid, ...

We have bought a new kitchen appliance recently - it's a George Foreman Grilling Machine (Model 12617) and it is the best thing ever!! We sort of bought it 'by accident'. Mum, dad and me went into town about a week ago. We were looking around some DIY more
I LOVE my George Foreman!
Before I got the Anniversary edition I treated myself to the small version just to see how I got on with it, and to see if I would actually use it.
Within 2 weeks I had invested in this bigger better version!
Ok, it takes more
This was a present from my grandma who thought that I needed something that would allow me to have a nutritous and warm meal that was also healthy. I beleive that she was probably suggested it by some store assistant in Comet as she doesn't watch much... more
