Hey, Im Suzi1996. I'm 13 and live in Scotland. I love animals and I have gerbils. I love the singer Pink, the band Muse and the band Paramore. I don't like dance music that much. I love the shoes Converse. My favourite colour is really dark purple.

Gerbils are a good family pet to have, but for slightly older children, since they are more active and jumpy than your regular hamster! They like to burrow and chew a lot! So, a gerbilarium is a good thing to keep them in, because the sand/fine peat or whatever you put at the bottom of the tank is good for their burrowng and it keeps then entertained for a while. You have to make sure you put wooden toys and even toilet tubes in their home for chewing and also entertainment. A problem that I have seen before is gerbils chewing the bars of the upper part of their cage. This means that they have nothng to do. You have to stop this because it can damage their teeth because the bars will be too hard. Buy them some new toys! Gerbils can become very tame if they are handled a lot. They will soon enjoy being handled by you, and completely bite free! If you want, you can even train them to go over mini jumps and obtsicals but this is very hard to do! Go on youtube and look at a video if you want to know how to do it. Gerbils are very friendly aswell. They NEED copanionship so you atleast need to get two gerbils. Also the same gender or you will have a lot of tiny gerbils. They also are pretty much oderless! This is because they are used to desert conditions in the wild, they prduce little waste so their gerbilarium wil only need a cleaning every two weeks! Remember to use pet safe cleaning wipes! Gerbils can be expensive, if your not careful because all my gerbil costs came to over 100 pounds! You can definately avoid ths by going to garage sales and buying big tanks for £10. The toy prices, you'll probably have to deal with. It sad, but gerbils only live for a few years. Some gerbils can live up to six years if they are care for properly. A couple of years added on! Gerbils can be noisy, but if they are really noisy, it normally means that they are going to fight or something is wrong, so be careful about that! This is just some minimum advice on gerbils-there is much more. I think their living period is the biggest downer.
