I had the privilege of going to a concert by them called an "evening to remember "on ( 2/2/01) at the Whitby pavillion.
This venue might only be classed as a small hall but nearly a thousand people packed the pavillion to witness what I can only describe as a fantastic performance by the group.
The pacemakers ... ...jot. The main man himself Gerry Mardsen singer and songwriter is very much an original and he's still got that golden voice he's always had.
The other pacemakers had according to Gerry all gone they're seperate ways with Marsden's brother now running a driving school and another of the originals now living in Australia where the band are heading very soon to perform.

The pacemakers themselves are not the originals from the sixties but that did not matter a jot. They have also according to Gerry toured America recently and he still clearly enjoys performing. Judging by last night people stil love him too.
This was one of the best shows I have seen for a long while Gerry Marsden is besides a top singer a very funny guy. He often had us all in stitches with the jokes he came out with and he also did a question and answer session in between singing such classics as Ferry cross the Mersey , You'll never walk alone , I like it and lot's more. These are Gerry's songs and no one can sing them quite like him. Although he is nearly sixty himself now ,you would not believe it from his tireless performance which saw him on stage for nearly two hours.
He also sings a mean rendition of Robbie Williams "Angel" and does a very good Jerry Lee Lewis impersonation too. There is clearly no end to his talents. If you like sixties music and Gerry and his crew are in a town near you I can recommend an evening to remember.

Williams is a heart warming tune which is the sort of song everyone want to be able to sing at the local karaoke competition, although sadly failing.
# 5) You'll never walk alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers is another of my favourite, I do realise that this is the terrace tune at for all Anfield faithful's and me being a Manchester City fan doesn't really compute but I enjoy this tune for what it says, 'stand tall and you will overcome what ever life throws at you' ..
# 6) Cleaning out my Closet by Eminem is a tune that I find to be written and performed with pure brilliance. I like many Eminem song, including 'Lose Yourself', 'When I'm Gone' and the rather funny 'Just lose it', but out of his entire collection I find this one to be my most favourite.
The entire song is about Marshall Bruce Mathers III, from his birth, through his life ...

An album made before you were born-
born in 1969, so this would have been carved on a stone disk and spun on a pointed stick back then. That will be a no then.
Live music!
Have you ever sung solo in public-
hundreds of times. Karaoke down the pub for about four years solid in the nineties, absolutely mauling the Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers and Freddie and the Dreamers. Also won a competition in Gran Canaria singing Let it be - prize was a big bottle of champagne, which didn't last the night!
Not anymore though, the voice has gone gravelly and my nerve has gone too.
Have you appeared in a musical-
At school we did several minor productions ripping off songs from the early eighties, to 'entertain' the lower school kids - which was just plain embarrassing. We did 'Tin Pan Alley' though over three nights to a paying ...

You'll never walk alone....... Gerry & The Pacemakers
This was always a brilliant song musically, yes it is a love song, I don't associate it with any particular female, but more with my life long love of Liverpool, the City and the Football Club
Last Waltz........Englebertlumpyknickers
Remember the days when we fellas were always a bit clumsy about proper dancing, took all night and a few beers to pluck up courage to ask a girl to dance, well this song is dedicated to all those lovely ladies that slipped through my fingers, just because we could only muster the last waltz at the working mens club on a Saturday night.....sorry girls!
Lady in Red ..... Chris de Burgh
Yes well nothing to say on this except, she was beautiful, the song is very powerful, very emotive, and strangely enough ...
