I have been using straightners for probably 5 years now. I have never been able to afford GHD's and never thought there was really a big enough difference between a pair you could buy for £25-£30 in any high street retailer and GHD's.
Well in February this year my 'non GHD' straightners quite literally fell to pieces - the ceramic plated plates fell off. I decided after much deliberation that i was going to bite the bullit and try the GHD's. My hairdresser had been telling me for 2 years that i should be using them. Well since i am a man with shortish spikey/ruffled looking hair i decided to go for the Mini straighteners as i thought they would be able to get in around my ears better and round the back of my head with the 'tufty' bits!
They cost me £72.99 in May of this year with a heat protecting mat. I search the internet for the best price including Ebay and the like but managed to get them in an online sale at Jason Shankley.co.uk.
The arrived 2 days later all boxed. I took them out and read the instructions. I pulled them in and i was used to my old straighteners taking 60seconds to get 'pretty' hot. These bad boys were ready well within 10 seconds - more like to be honest!
Do they work - too right they do. I reckon i save myself 3-4 minutes a day now using these straighteners as they are so effective. You only need to use them once on any given section of hair and the hair is straight. My old ones you needed to do 3 or 4 times and even then it wasn't great,
Plus points: the speed they get hot, how good they are at getting round ears etc and not ending up with 3rd degree burns, only having to go over hair once - causing less damage, 100% ceramic plates plates coated in ceramic.
Downers: they do cost a lot up front and that is it!
Do I recommend these - yes 100%. They are perfect for men with short/medium length hair or even girls - my girlfriend often uses mine to create these curly things in her hair - looks cool!!
