...a bargain. At the time GHD had their limited edition pink GHDs on the market and there were quite a few pairs online, however I did not actually think that my dad would be willing to pay more for my straightners just to conform to my girly image!
But on my birthday I opened my presents and I was lucky enough to see a gleaming new pair of hot pink GHDs. Perfect!
Since I had just rolled out my bed and ran downstairs to ... ...doing it any favours but GHD also have this covered. You can purchase all sorts of products designed for use with their straightners such as heat protection spray and shampoos and conditioners. GHD's website (www.ghdhair.com) allows you to purchase individual products or complete bundles along with straightners and often because you are buying direct this means that you are saving money compared to buying from other retailers.
My mum bought me my first pair of GHDs roughly five years ago. Looking back I can honestly say that I have no idea how I managed without them! I had a pair of pretty rubbish things in my first year at secondary school but it wasn't until I had GHDs that my hair was properly managed.
When we visited our salon they used GHDs to finish the look of both me and my mum's hairstyles. Now I know that the hairdresser can always make your hair look ten times better than you can but I have to say my hair looked straighter and sleeker than it ever had before. My mum forked out about £100 for the straightners, and judging by her usually tightness when it comes to money this shows just how impressed she really was.
These were the original GHDs that were first on the market. They were innovative because they only took 7 seconds to heat up (my previous babyliss ones I think took roughly 20 mins until they were close to having any effect on my hair) and the red light flashed once they had heated up (with my old straightners the only way of knowing if they were on was to touch the plate and take all your skin off) so naturally they were the better buy!
Although these straightners lasted me a good four years, they began to loose there effect as the ceramic wore off and they no longer seemed to reach such high temperatures. I must say that this was pretty good value for money, because although they were expensive, both my mum and I used them almost everyday and most straightners would have easily fallen to pieces by then!
So it was time to invest in a new pair. With my birthday fast approaching I persuaded my mum to look on the internet and get me a new pair. My dad was on the case and Ebaying like mad to try and find himself a bargain.
Perfect!
Since I had just rolled out my bed and ran downstairs to open my presents (yes I was seventeen but that is always the way it goes on my birthday!) I decided that before anyone else could take any more hideous photos of me I would try out the straightners. And I have to admit that somehow they managed to excel the performance of my old straightners.
The limited edition straightners have far more features than the older version and they have obviously taken into account what consumers would value in terms of the improvement of their products.
The pink straightners now heat to 230 and only take 7 seconds. The flashing red light turns off once they have reached optimum temperature so you know when they are ready for use. They have a monitor so that if they are not used for 30 minutes they will shut off and if the room temperature is too cold they will also turn off to prevent them from getting damaged. This is a good addition because with my old straightners I was constantly panicking at the thought of my room burning down because I did not check my straightners were turned off before I left.
Just like the previous straightners they can straighten both extremely curly and extremely frizzy hair to leave you with long lasting straight hair. Not only this, they also make hair much sleeker and shinier due to the aid of the "negative ion charge" in the straightners.
The hair straightners are clamped down into contact with the hair and they glide down from the roots to the end. You can angle the straightner into different positions and your hair should follow their direction (i.e. flicking out at the ends) This style can then be sprayed with hair spray for an all day lasting effect and to add a little bit of variety to hairstyles. This makes the stylers easy to use and means that you can segment your hair and do each segment quickly and effectively.
Another plus point is the fact that they are not only a straightner, they also curl hair beautifully. By twisting the straightners round and pulling them down through your hair, the hair curls back on itself and doesn't give ringlet curls, but gives a more wavy and square effect, which looks less formal and more choppy that when you use curling irons. This however is quite a complex skill to master and I suggest you ask your hairdresser to teach you how to do it because that is what I had to do!
Now obviously using such an intense heat on your hair isn't going to be doing it any favours but GHD also have this covered.
In general I love all of the GHD range. I have used the wide plated straightners, the original ones, these pink ones and the new GHD IVs. I love this product because it is so girly and pink yet it still upholds the expected GHD standard and straightens hair better than any other brand of straightners that I have tried.
They are definitely one of the most expensive products available on the market, but this is reflected in the high quality product that you receive. The product lasts long (my mum is still using my old pair from 5 years ago) and they give you a years guarantee so that if you do encounter any faults you will receive a new pair.
I would recommend the pink straightners to really girly girls although you have to be prepared to pay considerably more to have them than the original GHDs. The pink ones are hard to come by but I know that they were available on Amazon for roughly £100. The originals are easier to get hold of and my sister recently purchased a BNIB pair from Ebay for around £60, so if the colour doesn't mean too much for you then you're better just opting for the original black pair. GHD also have a mini styler aimed for doing short hair or boys' hair and in this metro sexual age, many of my male friends swear by them.
GHDs are a long term fashion investment which I think are a necessity for those who love looked well groomed and take pride in their appearance and I am pleased that I paid every penny I did for my straightners - I can't live without them!

Review of Ghd Limited Edition Styler - Hair Straightener
Advantages: Great colour! Actually straighten the curliest of hair Disadvantages: Price
...They were ordered off the GHD website www.ghdhair.com and came complete in box with two free hair styling products in just three days. Added to this they had come down in price considerably. Even though these are limited edition they retail at £89.00 on their own website (obviously prices will vary depending upon which site you are on.) So excitedly off I went to wash my hair with the shampoo and conditioner that came with the straighteners- which ... ...say is that the pink ones only come in the thiner plates- people with hair like mine are crying out for a cute pink pair in the industrial sized plates! I just hope GHD bring out a pair- if so I will be first in line to make a purchase! ...

...the newer versions of the GHD and this time in hot pink! The Hype The big thing about GHD’s is they are used in most salons by the hair stylists and therefore are recommended and advertised without us even knowing it. GHD – Good Hair Day - Advantages • With GHD straighteners the barrel of the irons are so thin and slick that not only can you straighten your hair, but you can create waves, tight curls, ringlets, flicks and high volume styles, this means that all your hair products (tongs etc) are rolled into one! I love this function, my hair is naturally curly, unfortunately it’s an awkward curly, it’s uneven and more wavy, but sometimes there are a few ...

GHD hair straightners are something i really could not live without. I have got the Limited edition IV Kiss ones and although the price is what seems redicuoulsly high at £135 they are worth every penny! I`ve had so many hair straightners in the past, cheep ones because i didnt want to spend that amount, i am now glad i did at last splash out on these!! They come in a box, roughly the size of a shoe box, in one side is the GHD stylers and on the ... ...GHD lipglosses in a small little box which are also fabulous. There is an instruction manual and a book containing a list of all the other products available by the GHD company. The great thing I love about GHDs is that they come with a dvd of how to create different styles!! Although these are called hair "straightners" they are fantastic at curling your hair, it has taken me a long time to get the hang of doing this as typically the girl in the ...

A lot of people class GHDs as the top brand in straighteners, but as I had never used any GHDs before, I was slightly disbelieving as to their performance. However, I soon discovered once I owned a pair that they deserve the praise and fantastic reviews they receive. They are a stunning piece of technology, which have none of the faults or criticisms which some other brands have.
I was given my straighteners for Christmas, but wanted to really test ... ...just write away with my rose-tinted glasses on!! I have to say though that I needn't have waited, I have not been disappointed with them.
I have naturally curly/wavy hair, which once blow dried seems to triple in size, and becomes a big, fluffy, frizzy mess. Over the years I have despaired so much, and was so thrilled when I bought my first pair of straighteners, only to be really quite disappointed with their performance. I can still remember the ...

Advantages: Quick to heat up, Excellent results, Easy to use, Time-saving Disadvantages: Cost, Extremely hot, Only one setting
I've had these hair straighteners for roughly six months now and have used them probably every day since I was given them, so I feel fairly qualified to give my opinion: that I really can't recommend them highly enough!!
The quality of GHDs is unbeatable - I've used a lot of hair straighteners in my time, and I've got to say that they really do give consistently good results. They heat up in roughly fifteen seconds, and you can straighten hair very ... ...which as you can imagine saves huge amounts of time in the mornings! Generally, unless your hair is remarkably stubborn, the hair will also stay straight for the duration of the day. It's also worth noting that they're pretty versatile, and as my hairdresser demonstrated a few days ago, it's quite easy to get nice curls using these hair straighteners!
Physically this is a very attractive hair straightener - especially for a very 'girly' girl. They're ...

Advantages: Heats very fast and leaves you with amazing shine! Disadvantages: Seriously hot! Mind those fingers!
going to put next to each item is as priced on the GHD website. Firstly there is the salon styler (wide ceramic plates for thicker hair) @ £100, theres also the original GHD's (thinner ceramic plates) @ £89.95 and the mini styler (for short hair) @ £78. Also at the moment there is a limitededition pink straightener which is raising money for Breast Cancer @ £124.95. If you buy from the GHD website or wherever you buy them from they tend to have offers where you can get free items with it such as sectioning clips, heat protector spray, heat protector mat etc.
WARNING: Once you turn then on DO NOT touch the ceramic plates. These babies heat up to "210 degrees in 7 seconds". Seriously hot. I have burnt myself many a times but they were all due to my fault. A few more words of wisdom, if you drop them accidentally DO NOT try to catch them ...

Advantages: Keeps my hair smooth, straight and sleek all day, it doesn't start to frizz. Disadvantages: Expensive product.
For ages now, I've always thought GHD's to be very overpriced. I used the Babyliss Pro 230'C ones for ages, and they did the job fine. They made my hair straight, what more do I need?
However I was in a spa shop one day and I saw a display model of the purple GHD's. My favourite colour if purple, and I immediately drawn to them. They have a gorgeous slightly silvered swirly pattern on them, and they seemed so light! I immediately put them out of my mind, I'm sure the purple GHD set was about £150 and there was no way I was going to pay that much for a pair of straighteners.
To my delight I recieved the GHD Purple IV LimitedEditionHairStyler for Christmas!
