Advantages: works like a horse! Disadvantages: expensive, prone to headstock breaks
One thing you'll hear musicians say about the GibsonES range of guitars is that they never let you down. Its a real workhorse, both on stage and in the studio. It combines the best of both acoustic and solid body designs, with a solid maple block placed inside to control unwanted feedback from the semi acoustic that still remains one of the slimmest around.
These models aren't just for jazz guitarists (BB King plays one, as does Bernard Butler!)
but many have fallen into the hands of those who play on the outside, their classic golden tone coming from a couple of 1957 PAF Gibson humbuckers, their thin tapered necks inspiring you to go further than ever. there are many more expensive guitars, but few have been worked as hard!

Otherwise there is no difference. The build quality, materials, electricals and finish are 100% Gibson.
She is a fine looking machine and a dream to play. The SG was Gibson's answer to the criticism that the Les Paul is too heavy.
The SG body is thinner and lighter, although later Les Pauls like mine are considerably lighter than the old school ones ...
Advantages: plays like no other guitar I have ever owned Disadvantages: Damned Expensive
lay, unmarked by fingerprints, metalwork gleaming, I felt like Harry Potter when he unwrapped his Firebolt for the first time.
The first thing I noticed when I lifted my baby from the case is that Gibson have done something about the weight. Their solid mahogany bodies all sound good but can lead to aching shoulders and the odd pulled muscle if you aren't fit.
The LP Studio has cavities routed into the body to relieve the weight. In my opinion they also enhance the tone of the instrument.
I switched on my tuner and plucked a string. Amazingly 5 out of 6 strings were still in tune after courier delivery. I strummed a few chords. Bliss!
The body is in a Worn Cherry colour. with trapezoid fret markers, so much more classy than those round dots!
The two Gibson Humbucker Pickups live up to their reputation, giving a full ...
