GIGABYTE proudly introduced the GA-8I945P-G-RH, the world's first RoHS compliant motherboard featuring the Intel 945P Express chipset for the Intel Pentium D and Pentium 4 platforms. As the first Green Computing motherboard from GIGABYTE, the GA-8I945P-G-RH complies with the European Union's Restriction of use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive that limits the use of lead, mercury, cadmium and other hazardous substances in electronic products. The launch of the GA-8I945P-G-RH is part of the GIGABYTE Cares initiative whereby the company is striving to do its share, and more, as a member of the global community to look after the environment. Having used Gigabye Motherboards in the past and never had any trouble with them the wisest thing to do was to keep to Gigabyte.
We decided on the GigabyteGA-945P-DS3 purely on the features it offered.

...as it only provides control for the CPU Fan but not for the Chassis and System Fan (therefore they always run at full speed, increasing the noise level). Gigabyte has included a Northbridge Chipset Fan to cool down the chipset temperature and it also can be controlled. The area around the CPU socket is spacious that I could install my huge heatsink. This is a great motherboard for overclocking which is also suitable for novices and Gigabyte provides enough support for users from their online technical service zone with prompt replies....

Advantages: Easy installation, compatible with a wide range of cpu's, FSB speeds... Disadvantages: Esata port does not work properly
...I purchased this motherboard recently to upgrade my PC to Core 2 Duo, I chose this motherboard because of the external sata port which I wanted to connect an external hard drive to. Installation was simple and the drivers disc installed everything necessary for Windows XP but the external Sata port would not detect the external drive, I emailed Asus who over the course of a week had me install several different drivers but none of them helped and eventually they said that I should return the board - I haven't returned the board becuase I haven't got another computer but to be honest I don't think the port is faulty I jus think the drivers (jmicron chipset) are completely useless because the supplied driver is a RAID driver even though this board does not have RAID capability....
