Gigabyte GA-GC230D - motherboard - mini ITX - i945GC

Advantages: Cheap, Powerfull, easy to install
Disadvantages: Not for gamers!

...This is a good little motherboard for its low price. I am currently using it to write this review. I also have an Intel E2180 Pentium Dual core CPU set up and overclocking it was so easy. The board itself was so cheap that i wasn't sure if it would be up to scratch for my new build computer, but it surprised me! The Instruction manual was easy to follow and had screen shots of everything needed. The Setup disk was also detailed in the manual and was also easy to follow. As previously stated, This motherboard is easy to overclock using the CPU i have. All the BIOS options are available to gain maximum performance for all components. The manual also listed all the supported CPU's and also had screen shots of the BIOS which were helpful. If you are looking for a cheap motherboard for a dual core Intel CPU then this is brilliant!... Read review

Advantages: Mini with many features
Disadvantages: poor floating point

...for a house (very good for DVD playback and has six channel audio) or a downloading machine you needed to leave on 24 hours a day. If you had a large computer case for any other computer you could probably fit it inside and have two PCs in one. All in all this a great little device, while it lacks the power of its Intel of AMD cousins if you use it for something its suited to it will excel at it. At £151.58 (as of 25/03/06) from mini-itx.com for the motherboard and processor (including onboard graphics, sound and LAN) you effectively get a fully featured PC for less than £200 when you include the RAM.
