...I used this motherboard on my first home made computer. I must say that it worked a treat. I fitted to it an AMD 6000+ X2 processor,4GB R.A.M, 1000GB Hard drive space, Blue Ray Reader. 512MB graphics card...and some other small components. I have never seen a motherboard before that came with absolutley everything you would need one one for this price, 7.1 surround sound, integrated graphics including a HDMI slot, 4USB ports on the back... it just had everything. And above all that It went together like a computer should, very easy with no problems. It took me about 2 hours to built it, this wasnt includint the operating system though. Advantages: Supports all Athlon MP processors, CPU plug and play, Disadvantages: Not many overclock options, tempremantal onboard raid, registered memory recommended
...purchase of new Power supply,
Might mean purchase of new registered memory/ram,
3/ Upgrade to Athlon MP
Pros:
My current video card will work fine (AGP)
My current memory might work,
Cost is less than Athlon 64 or Opteron
Cons:
Might mean purchase of new power supply,
Might mean purchase of registered memory/ram

Keeping my eye out on ebay, and looking up all the available motherboard options, i decided to see if i could get a GigabyteGA-7DPXDW+.
The reason i chose this board above the others is:
Staggered 64bit PCI slots,
Onboard IDE RAID Controller,
Onboard Sound,
Onboard Network Card,
Standard ATX12v Power supply connection.
The board i purchased (from ebay) came with 1gigabyte of registered memory, and 2x Athlon MP 2600+ Barton...

...x storage DMA/ATA-100 (Ultra) / 40 PIN IDC male (Its eight because you can use the RAID IDE’s as normal IDE’s giving you 4 master IDE’s with another 4 slaves!)
2 x serial USB / 4 PIN USB Type A male
And finally it is Plug and Play (thank god!)
Here’s what Abit says the motherboard does:
